ASK. How are you seeing yourself in these first races at the beginning of the season?
ANSWER. It’s having a bit of a hard time since the goal was to start on the podium and it seems like it’s having a hard time. I think that in the race in Brazil I had good pace to take second place, but with the red flag, it was difficult for us to start a race with just a few laps. We will have to look ahead. Now that Jerez is coming, which is a circuit that we really like with the fans in our favor; I think we can take that little step forward and get that long-awaited podium.
Q. We have seen you very fast in the qualifying session, in the race you fight for the podium. What is missing to achieve it?
R. Every year of Moto3 is different, because this year we started riding very fast, the races are being very distanced and I think we lack a little speed in the last laps, but we are working on it.

Q. The next race is Jerez. You like the layout. How do you face it?
R. Moto3 is always very difficult. You can really like the circuit, but then a lot of things can change during the weekend and things get complicated. I am very excited to give my all to the Spanish public. I will try to do the best I can, but it is difficult to determine what can be done.
Q. Race finishes in Moto3 are a kind of lottery. More than ten pilots arrive with options for everything. What is most complicated in those last laps with so many rivals?
R. At the end of the day, you study the person in front a little to see where you can pass him and, suddenly, three pass you and from being second you go to sixth and your chances of getting on the podium are taken away and it is very difficult to recover them. You have to be very focused the last two laps.

Q. There are many races left. How satisfied would you feel at the end of the season?
R. We must continue fighting. The year is very long, there are many races left, the circuits that are worse for us, we must solve them in the best possible way and be patient, better races will come to be able to fight for victory, like in Valencia.
Q. Later. Do you see yourself with more podium options in some races?
R. The first races of the season are more difficult for me and from now on, I will give a little more to try to get those podiums and achieve that consistency that allows us to be ahead in all the races.

Q. You have been very close to the long-awaited podium. Can you reach it, even qualify for victories?
R. I think so. We are working for it. Last year, we achieved a victory, we made quite a few podiums and I think we lack a few things to improve, small details that allow you to win or be left out.
Q. Is Honda on par or somewhat below KTM?
R. In some circuits we suffered a little more, but as has already been seen my partner has won with the same bike, so I think we can fight for the World Championship. In some circuits it will cost us more, but in others it will be more favorable. You may be fighting.

Q. How do you see MotoGP?
R. It is the premier category, but with so much aerodynamics it is very complicated to drive these motorcycles at such speed. My brother told me that many times you trust the braking reference and on the next lap, if you go too close, you don’t brake, you go off and it is very difficult to overtake, but he is happy. He says that the Aprilia works and although it is not the official one, he hopes to have a good season.

Q. Would you change anything?
R. That the commissioners were not so strict on some occasions. Many times contact is inevitable, but you never want to throw or throw your opponent off the line and the criteria, when determining a penalty, would always be the same because for us to step on the green in the last lap is to lose a position; In others they say that time has not been gained and there are many times that you do not understand it very well.
