“When I was 34, I froze my eggs because of the pressure of passing my fertile age”

In the video, she explains that at the age of 34 she decided to undergo two cycles of treatment to freeze her eggs. She did it, she says, because of an increasingly intense feeling of approaching the limit of fertile age. “That was the gift I gave myself“, he says, although he recognizes that it is an expensive process, both for the treatment and the medication.

Far from dramatizing the physical part, Carrillo insists that neither the injections nor the extraction were particularly hard. In fact, he assures that on the same day of the intervention he returned to work. The really complicated thing, he explains, was the mental load: that constant pressure for biological time and the possibility of not being able to have more children.

Precisely for this reason, she maintains that freezing eggs allowed her to free herself from that anguish. “The obsession with biological expiration is over“, he points out, adding that he believes that this type of treatment should be covered by the public health to allow women to make decisions more calmly.

In his case, he made that decision while he was in a relationship with a partner who did not want to be a father. That led her to consider the solo motherhoodan option that he seriously considered, although in the end it did not fit with his personal situation.

She would only be a mother again if she fell in love

Carrillo also addresses one more issue intimate: the fact that she is already a mother conditions her vision. She explains that she was worried about leaving her eldest son with a burden that did not belong to him if something happened to him, or not being able to offer the same conditions to a second child if she were raising him alone. A reflection that, far from generalizing, makes it clear that it responds only to his own experience.
