There are just three days left until the 2026 World Cup begins, so we asked FC26 which team could be the one to surprise. Making a small simulation, the EA Sports game has been sure that it will, without a doubt, be Uruguay.
The team led by Bielsa has some good names, but they are not going through their best moment. This is the case of Darwin Nuñez, who went from being a Liverpool striker to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Arabian league. or of Ronald Araujo, who has not had his best year at FC Barcelona. However, they are a team to take into account, and depending on the game they could be a clear candidate to get into the semifinals and give a lot of fight to the favorites.
A modest but strong team
The truth is that the average of the Uruguay team is not very high. Placing the best players on the team in their positions, EA Sports does not give them an average higher than 80 pointseven having a star who shines in the game like Valverde, with 89 points. This distances them from the main candidates, such as France, with more than 85 on average, Spain or Brazil, which have 84.
However, when simulating it, the game is clear that, given the itinerary that Uruguay has to follow, thinking about it coming out as second in the group after losing against Spaincould sneak into the semifinals after beating Argentina, Iran and Senegal.
It’s a lot to assume, but Uruguay’s midfield could dominate the games, with Valverde as a star, supported by Bentancur and De Arrascaeta, and with a defense with two center backs as Gimenez and Araujowho could measure up.
The end of the road, Portugal
Cristiano Ronaldo’s team will be, according to FC26, the one who ends with thedreams of Uruguay in this World Cup. The Portuguese, who have great players, would be able to overcome the Uruguayans, facing France in the grand final, after they eliminated Spain.
Let’s hope that, at least, that last prediction does not come true and we can see Luis De la Fuente’s men in the grand final, but among the big names that a priori will be in the last games, Uruguay was not one of those we expectedand FC has made its own bet.
