“This message can save lives”

The Spanish pharmaceutical laboratory Cantabria Labs has launched a new edition of Goal Zero Melanomaits educational campaign to raise awareness and prevent melanoma, an initiative with a social vocation that has been working for years to bring rigorous and accessible information to the population about skin health and the importance of early detection.

Under the motto ‘Leave Melanoma to Zero’the Cantabria Labs initiative reinforces its commitment to health through the dissemination of prevention tools that help detect melanoma early, such as The ABCDE rule in self-checking for moles: TOsymmetry, birregular orders, cnon-homogeneous odor, ddiameter greater than 6 millimeters and ANDevolution or changes in the appearance of the mole. A simple gesture that can make a difference in a disease in which timely diagnosis is decisive.

The extensionist Rafa Nadalambassador of Cantabria Labs, joined an event to present the Objective Zero Melanoma campaign and shared his reflections: “What you learn when you are young is essential to internalize it. In tennis 80% of the time you are outdoors and I grew up without all this photoprotection information. I sweated a lot and this was a problem for the creams to be absorbed well, therefore, oral photoprotection was very important for me. Now, thanks to what I have learned, I acted with adequate conscience and also in the face of my children because “Prevention means taking much fewer risks.”commented the winner of 22 Grand Slams.

In this sense, the manacorí added: “It is a satisfaction to be a speaker of this message that can save lives”. Nadal also stated that there are workshops in his academy thanks to Cantabria Labs and in this way “you nourish young people with tools thanks to education”. The Spaniard added that in his tennis school it is everyone’s mission to raise awareness about protection against the sun: “Coaches have to transmit the daily message because young people are more impacted by the examples of people around them,” he indicated.

A very committed Nadal also commented that it is essential to develop a habit because the sun is always present: “At first you are not entirely aware of the damage it can cause us in the long term, but Over time you understand that it is not just about protecting yourself from the sun at specific times, but about incorporating habits into your daily life, not only in summer or on beach days.

The campaign starts in Madrid on May 12, 13 and 14with a first stop in front of the exchanger New Ministries. After Madrid, the Zero Melanoma tour will continue his journey through Malaga in July, Santander in September and Mallorca in Octoberwith actions adapted to each environment and public. At all stops, Cantabria Labs will have the participation of more than 40 dermatologists to convey to the population the importance of regular self-examination of moles and consultation with a dermatologist as fundamental tools for the prevention and early detection of melanoma.

The objective is not to replace medical consultationbut to develop an educational action on self-examination of moles with the ABCDE rule to empower the population with rigorous information about skin care.
