Riding “Pinoccio”, Juan Ignacio Álvarez Fermosel was the brilliant winner of the Caixabank Trophy, the highest test of the three held in the morning session of the second day of the LGCT 115 CSI Madrid. Previously, the Emirati rider Alí Hussain Alnowais had won twice in the MARCA Trophy.
The three CSI1* category tests of the LGCT 115 CSI Madrid were held on Saturday morning, going from lowest to highest in the obstacles, until ending with the Caixabank Trophy of 1.40 meters. A test that was disputed over Two Phases and in which 14 teams, of the 46 that took part, managed to finish both without penalty.
A magnificent route in the second phase of the young Spanish rider Carmen García Torres, with “Quote for Pleasure HPE”seemed to announce the victory of the Madrid native, but her 31’86 seconds were not enough to achieve victory, having to settle for second place in the end.

Ignacio Álvarez Fermosel, who competes for Argentina, although he resides in Spaingalloped with great intensity with “Pinoccio” and took risks in the laps of the second phase to establish a time of 30’89 seconds that was the ticket to victory.
The Belgian qualified in third position Stefan Weemaes with “Risque Tout” (32’27)while another young Amazon from Madrid, Claudia Arango Varelamanaged to place himself among the five best, with a time of 32’84 riding “Fortis du Rozel”.
The event closed with the trophy presentation ceremony, with Ignacio Álvarez Fermosel receiving his, as the winner, from the hands of Cesar Fontandirector of Private Banking at Caixabank, accompanied by Alvaro Arrietapresident of Oxer Sport, and by Juan Carlos Veramanager of the RCCVM.
MARCA Trophy, with a double Emirati victory
The day began with a double Arab victory in the MARCA Trophy, with the same protagonist in the two tests held, at heights of 1.15 meters in the first and 1.25 meters in the second: Ali Hussain Alnowais.
The rider from the United Arab Emirates, who had been second in the two tests of the same category on the first day, came out determined on Saturday morning to make the leap to first place and achieved it in both. The MARCA Trophy, held against a stopwatch over 1.15 meter obstacles, was won by “King Leon Z”, with a time of 62.96, while The second classified, the Spanish Alejandra Masoliver, spent 64’16 with “Sevilla de Villafranca”. Third place went to Anna Sanchez Sola with “Quialina D” (66’21).
In the 1’25 MARCA Trophy, Ali Hussain Alnowais was the best of the 40 participants riding “Etoile de la Roche”, with whom he made zero over the obstacles and stopped the clock at 60’63 seconds. Next, a Portuguese rider and a veteran Portuguese rider qualified: Teresa Catela was second with “Billy Mufasa” (62’39) and third, Eduardo Netto de Almeida with “Clinton du Temple”. Juan Ignacio Álvarez Fermosel was fourth with “Geniale Moriniere” and fifth, and best Spanish, Noelia Bayarri with “Erdeven du Tertre”.
Gema Monjas, business director of MARCAwas in charge of delivering the trophies to the winner of both events, Alí Hussain Alnowais, accompanied by Álvaro Arrieta, president of Oxer Sport, and by Juan Carlos Vera, manager of the RCCVM.
The second day of LGCT 115 CSI Madrid continues on Saturday afternoon with two new tests, both from CSI5*. The first, the EULEN Trophy and the second, the prestigious HM the King Cup, Caser Grupo Helvetia Trophy. During this last test, the ceremony will take place in which Luis Astolfi Pérez de Guzmán will be awarded the gold medal of the Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation.
