The Valencian Community is facing an unprecedented strike by teachers in this region. After more than ten days, the regional government has not been able to defuse the situation. According to La Información, there are already more than 140 directors of schools and institutes who have announced their resignation to school councils.
Far from trying to put out the fire, the PP account of the Valencian Community has added fuel to the fire with a tweet that has provoked indignation in the educational sector. Pérez Llorca’s party has made a comparison of teachers’ sick leave, depending on the month of work: “Sick in winter and healthy in summer.”
Óscar Puente describes this PP tweet as “atrocious” and the party ends up deleting it
Echoing information from El Español, the regional PP wrote this on its January recorded the maximum number of medical casualties, 3,869, compared to the minimum of 183.”
This public comparison has outraged different sectors, especially politicians. One of the most critical has been Óscar Puente, who has called it “barbarity”. Sources consulted by La Información advance that teachers in this region are very damaged by what they consider “an interested manipulation of temporary disability figures.”
Antonio Talavera, from UGT, has also spoken in said medium about the causes of this numerical difference in both months: “In August there is practically no teaching activity and thousands of interim teachers are not even registered.” Furthermore, he highlighted that all administrations are aware of what the underlying problem is and none “has wanted to solve it.”
