Monaco announced this Monday the departure of Belgian coach Sébastien Pocognoli, who was barely eight months in charge, after having left the Principality club in a disappointing seventh place in Ligue 1.
In a statement, Monaco wanted to “thank Sébastien Pocognoli and his coaching staff for their total commitment to AS Monaco, and wish them the best for the future.”
The 38-year-old Belgian coach had replaced the Austrian Adi Hütter in October 2025 and leaves with a record of 16 wins, 9 draws and 13 losses.
Seventh place in the League forces Monaco, one of the most successful clubs in France, to play in the play-offs to access the Conference League.
After the departure of the former Belgian player, the French press points to Brazilian international Filipe Luís (former Atlético de Madrid player and Flamengo coach until March) as his successor.
