Marbella continues to consolidate itself as one of the great international sports destinations after confirming its incorporation into the official calendar of the T100 World Championship Tour 2027the professional long-distance circuit that will be part of the new Triathlon World Tourthe global platform jointly presented by World Triathlon and the Professional Triathletes Organization (PTO).
The city of Malaga will be one of the prominent locations of this new global project and will host the fifth test of the T100 calendar the days September 18 and 19, 2027. The competition will bring together some of the best triathletes in the world and will project the image of Marbella as a reference destination for sports, active tourism and major international events.
The confirmation took place during the official presentation of the new Triathlon World Tour held in Londonwhere World Triathlon and the PTO unveiled a unified structure that will mark the future of professional triathlon starting in 2027.
The mayor of Marbella, Angeles Muñozcelebrated the incorporation of the city to the international circuit and highlighted the sporting and tourist importance that the celebration of this event will have.

“The arrival of the T100 will be a very important event for Marbella. We are enormously excited for organizing it and welcoming back some of the best triathletes in the world. “Marbella is a sports capital,” he stated.
Muñoz also highlighted the conditions of the municipality to host large international competitions and the experience it will offer to athletes and companions: “Marbella is the best place to practice sports. We have extraordinary hotels, spectacular beaches and an exceptional climate all year round. In addition, we have mountains, culture, astronomy, shopping and a leisure offer so that the whole family can enjoy an unforgettable experience,” he noted.
For his part, the president of the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI), José Hidalgohighlighted the importance of Marbella being part of this new stage of international triathlon and the support that its incorporation into the world calendar represents for Spanish sport.
“It is an honor to be able to announce that the World Tour, this new concept of world triathlon, will feature Marbella for the 2027 edition.. And it is an honor that your mayor has accompanied us in this presentation that has been made in London,” said Hidalgo.
The president of FETRI highlighted the role of the city within the new international circuit: “Without a doubt, we are lucky to have Marbella as the iconic headquarters of the new concept of the world triathlon of the T100 World Championship. The Triathlon World Tour is born
The incorporation of Marbella occurs within the framework of the official launch of the Triathlon World Tourthe new global brand that will unify the main professional triathlon competitions starting in 2027.
The project, promoted by World Triathlon and the PTO, was born with the objective of put an end to the historical fragmentation of the international calendar through a common structure that facilitates the understanding and monitoring of the sport by fans, sponsors, media and organizers.
The new model will be made up of two large circuits:
– T50 World Championship Tour, heir to the current World Triathlon Series (WTCS).
– T100 World Championship Tour, evolution of the current T100 Triathlon World Tour.
Both circuits will culminate in world finals in which the world champions of each distance will be officially crowned.
Additionally, a intermediate category called Challengerwhich will act as an official qualification route to the world circuits and will integrate the current World Triathlon World Cups and various events of the Challenge Family circuit.

The president of World Triathlon, Antonio Arimanyhighlighted that the creation of the Triathlon World Tour represents a necessary structural change to promote the growth of the sport at an international level.
“Our sport was very fragmented from a competitive and commercial point of view, which limited its development. With the Triathlon World Tour we are creating a unified structure and brand capable of bringing together as many events as possible and generating profits. for the entire triathlon ecosystem,” he explained.

Arimany added that the new model will offer more opportunities for both athletes and national federations, strengthening the long-term growth of the discipline.
For his part, the PTO CEO Sam Renoufhighlighted the importance of associating the circuit with iconic destinations and building a recognizable global brand.
“This announcement represents a decisive step in our mission to transform triathlon and bring it closer to the general public. We want to create a clear path for all athletes, professional and amateur, while offering an attractive platform for sponsors and host cities,” he said.

– Marbella (Spain) – September 18 and 19
– Saudi Arabia – November 26 and 27
– World Championship Finals in Qatar – December 10 and 11

The presentation held in London constitutes the first phase of the launch of the Triathlon World Tour.
