s coach n handled a number of topics throughout his regular Monday Zoom convention following a s in London on Oct. 18. He addressed the crew's offensive manufacturing (excellent), protection (wants work) and taking the bye week to guage elementary and situational soccer (wants extra work).
The s (4-2), nonetheless main the AFC South by two video games, will subsequent play on Nov. 1 at EverBank Stadium in opposition to the s.
Liam Coen on the function of rookies
"We've clearly received some contributions from a few of these younger guys … was good to see [tight end] ] make that play [touchdown] within the purple zone, which is one thing that you recognize we had seen him have the ability to do all through the course of coaching camp and a number of the joint practices. [I] assume he's enjoying his tail off. [Tight end Tanner] Koziol received a bit bit extra time as effectively this week, hoping to proceed to construct off of that. [Wide receiver] n, as we all know, he's clearly enjoying numerous soccer for us.
"[Defensive end] r. … hopefully proceed to get him some extra rush ops as we go. He's doing a very good job on particular groups. [Offensive guard n had one of his better outings yesterday … had the one hold, and we'll continue to work with him as he goes on the second level and getting up and getting in space. But I thought he played really, really well on the inside for us yesterday. I thought [defensive linemen] s and s had superior weeks of apply. They had been so vital to our preparation final week. They gave us such a very good search for entrance."
Liam Coen on the offense
"I believe from what we envisioned, I believe there's numerous soccer that factors to what we had been hoping for. I believed yesterday we stayed out of the longer third downs. I believed we had been a bit bit extra environment friendly. We ran the ball successfully. I believe, most likely may have gotten some extra runs. We're type of chasing factors, however I did assume we've been capable of run the ball extra effectively at occasions. I believe the backs are working arduous. We've protected … I'd wish to proceed to see us be you recognize extra explosive and get some extra explosive performs … I want to see us perhaps get some extra of these explosives [on the running game] extra like 15-, 20-yard runs.
"I used to be happy with the offense's response yesterday in numerous methods. You recognize, to maneuver it successfully all through. By no means actually felt like we had been simply static or couldn't transfer it, and so they need to take confidence from a few of these issues yesterday. And 6 video games in, I've been more than happy with [quarterback] e."
Liam Coen on going for the late e discipline aim
"Each choice like that … coach's choice … there's all the time hindsight. You take a look at, all proper, we don't get it. We're gonna want a cease both means. I felt like we had simply received the turnover. Perhaps we put a bit strain on them on the opposite aspect of the ball. However [Little] provides you a lot confidence in these moments, no matter finish of the sport or the half, such as you really feel such as you received a shot, and that's why we had been capable of be aggressive on the finish of half was to attempt to put us able to get factors.
"He's such a weapon. Typically what makes a few of these selections difficult is when you’ve got a man that's so dynamic that he could make kicks from so many alternative spots on the sector. However very pleased with Cam within the final, actually the previous couple of weeks that he's had. Simply continues to offer us an opportunity to win."
Liam Coen on getting gamers off injured reserve
"I don't assume anyone anytime quickly. You recognize [offensive guard] ] may. You recognize, clearly be any individual from a depth standpoint that may be obtainable for us to have the ability to assist us. However I wouldn't see anyone else for the time being. You recognize, [offensive tackle] . However as of proper now, I'd say Patrick would most likely be the closest, after which I believe [defensive end] B.J. Inexperienced."
Liam Coen on the Jaguars' lack of cross rush
"[In] regards to the cross rush, I believe our strain charges truly [are] not so dangerous. They [Houston] had been struggling at occasions. They did a very good job of getting the ball out."
Liam Coen on the secondary rotation, given accidents
"n] goes down … ] again. Kaevon [Merriweather] hasn't performed a ton, and so I believe we will do a greater job as coaches in serving to you recognize settle them down with a number of the communication and calls and with the ability to restrict a number of the stock to simply have the ability to go and proceed to do what we do finest, to place our guys able, particularly while you're feeling a bit bit like we're getting chased. Finally, we've received to have the ability to talk at a excessive degree on the market."
Liam Coen on the priorities through the bye week
"I believe taking a look at situational soccer is one thing that you just simply all the time be taught from. So many of those video games come down to 1 rating on this league. Little situational issues that simply come up, they occur, and it impacts video games. It impacts successful and dropping video games. You simply you can not rep sufficient situational soccer. You simply you don't have sufficient time within the day to do it. However emphasizing it, as we're in our second 12 months collectively … work on extra of these end-to-half, end-to-game situations, all these various things."
So I believe that's an space of focus that we need to proceed to lean into, after which you recognize enjoying clear when it comes to the self-inflicted issues, whether or not it's fundamentals and methods of blocking and enjoying protection and man protection. And so, being basically sharp all through the course of the week to have the ability to present that on Sundays, after which situational soccer, I believe, are issues that we will completely work on all through this little break once we get again."
Liam Coen on his optimism coming into the bye week
"All the pieces's not going precisely in response to plan [against Houston], they usually simply hold laying their tails off. And there's situational soccer, issues that pop up, clock stuff, all these items that we have now to proceed to be taught from. All of us … really collectively as a bunch, and to be six weeks in, and to really feel assured that your crew's going to reply, that we're product of the correct stuff to reply. And we have now a lot soccer left that you just're enthusiastic about. You're enthusiastic about getting issues corrected. You're enthusiastic about with the ability to be in these moments once more and perhaps do it proper or do it higher the following time.
"As a lot because it hurts within the second and within the aftermath … I’ve numerous confidence on this soccer crew. I'm very enthusiastic about this soccer crew."
