The actor and comedian Dani Rovira has broken his silence about one of the most complicated periods of his life. The actor and comedian has confessed that last year is the worst year he can remember, a year 2025 marked by a succession of personal, family, work and health problems which until now had been kept in the strictest privacy.
During his participation in the La Ruina podcast, the protagonist of ‘Eight Basque Surnames’ recounted the complicated moment he went through last year. “It was a shit year, the worst year of my life“, he assured, before listing some of the blows he had to face in just a few months: a romantic breakup, two surgical operations, professional difficulties and the death of his father.
The most surprising thing about his testimony was the revelation of a serious health problem that he had not spoken about publicly until now. Dani Rovira explained that he suffered two thrombi in a vein located in the chest area, a situation that forced doctors to perform surgery on him twice.
As he reported, It all started when a vascular anomaly was detected that required urgent surgery. The first intervention allowed one of the thrombi to be removed using a catheter, but the recovery was complicated when doctors discovered the appearance of a second clot. The actor remained admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for several days and later on the ward before being discharged.
After further tests, specialists diagnosed him with thoracic outlet syndrome, a condition that can cause compression of blood vessels and nerves between the neck and shoulder. The second operation was much more complex and consisted of the extraction of part of the first rib, the removal of the thrombus and the placement of a vascular prosthesis.
Recovery was not easy either. The actor has acknowledged that for weeks he felt physically very limited, at a particularly delicate moment from an emotional point of view. Other problems were added to the illness that contributed to aggravating his situation, among them the premature cancellation of a television project.
One of the most painful episodes of that year was the death of his father, Andrés Rovira, in October 2025. Although he had already publicly shared his sadness over the loss, he has now explained that this occurred in a particularly difficult context, when he was still recovering from his health problems and facing a romantic breakup.
The actor’s confessions have surprised many of his followers, since until now he had chosen to keep this stage of his life private. Unlike what happened in 2020, when he made public the Hodgkin lymphoma he suffered, Dani Rovira decided to remain silent about this new personal battle until he felt ready to tell it.
