The image that went around the world on Friday was that of Matteo Arnaldi announcing that he would not play the Roland Garros semifinal with Flavio Cobolli because of a virus. The surprising thing was seeing Cobolli next to his compatriot during the press conference, something unprecedented.
Even an authoritative voice of tennis like John McEnroe has criticized the exposure of the tournament finalist, who will play for the title this Sunday against Alexander Zverev.
“If Arnaldi is here and holding a press conference, why is Cobolli so close to him? If they are sick and have a virus, you wouldn’t want to catch it.,” McEnroe told TNT Sports.
