The former president of the Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapaterohas addressed the public through a statement after declaring in the National Court as accused in the Plus Ultra case. The former socialist leader has spent almost three hours in court and has denied any crime. It is the first former president in the history of Spanish democracy to be indicted for Justice. His case is causing a great political tidal wave with the Government of Pedro Sanchez at the epicenter.

I have been silent for 29 days, preparing for this moment and those to come“. The former president of the Government has commented that he did not speak out out of respect for Justice, since the judge was “the first one who should listen to me.” The socialist has advanced that he will soon give “appropriate explanations”.

Zapatero: “I always conducted myself with decency and honesty”
The former President of the Government has recalled that he is accused of “very serious” crimes. Specifically, influence peddling, criminal organization and document falsification and, as for the seized jewelry, smuggling and tax fraud: “I am accused of very serious crimes that I have not committed. I always conducted myself with decency and honesty, and now I have the task of proving it. “I will do it with absolute transparency and with full confidence.”
Zapatero: “I have absolutely nothing outside of Spain”
José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero has emphasized that he does not have “absolutely nothing outside of Spain”in reference to possible companies, money or financial products of any type. “With my direct or indirect ownership”he insisted in the statement. Furthermore, the former President of the Government wanted to close his text with a message to the Spanish citizens, who are still very pending the evolution of the case.
