“Get out of there because it’s not worth it”

During the broadcast of ‘Straight to the point’ last Friday, July 24, Gonzalo Miró and Martin Barreiro connected with different reporters displaced to the areas affected by the flames in the Community of Madrid and the province of Ávila.

In Navas del Rey, which had to be evacuated, was Tania Garralda, who during the first connection explained the evolution of the fire: “It is a very complicated situation we are experiencing, with the smoke that begins to invade everything and the ashes that fall on our heads. We are alone, everyone has already been evacuated. The only ones who remain are the Police and the UME.”

“The situation is quite complicated, especially due to the gusts of wind that make everything worse and could make extinguishing efforts difficult. There is no one left in the town. (…) They also ask us to leave the area because it is very difficult to be here.since smoke and flames are surrounding us,” the reporter added.

Gonzalo Miró, to his reporter: “Get out of that area, it is very dangerous”

Minutes later, after listening to several testimonies and connecting with other reporters, Gonzalo Miró gave way again to Tania Garralda from Navas del Rey. Although the situation had worsened noticeably: “Comrades, the situation has worsened and right now we have the fire right here and they are evicting us. The fire is right there, the smoke is tremendous. It is impossible to speak and open your eyes. You can see this heat that we already have on us.”

“A few minutes ago I was talking to the captain of the UME. I asked him about the situation and he told me that the fire was surrounding the town of Navas del Rey, and that he did not believe it would enter. They were doing everything they could to save the town.but the gusts of wind were carrying the fire towards the north of Madrid,” the reporter tried to explain.

Upon seeing those images and the reporter’s difficulties in speaking, Miró asked her to leave the area: “Tania, we thank you very much for the information but Please get out of there because it’s not worth being so close to the smoke. Get out of there and then we’ll connect with you again, but please get out of there. “Get out of that area, it is very dangerous.”

“They are very good reporters, but it is not worth going into the flames to report”said the presenter minutes later.
