The boo birds flew early and infrequently in Philly on Sunday, because of an offense that couldn't get off the bottom.
The ultimate tally from Sunday's loss to the Rams: 172 whole yards, 68 internet yards passing, and 0-for-12 on third down.
Over the past two video games, the Eagles have transformed solely two of 21 third-down alternatives.
After the loss to L.A., Eagles coach Nick Sirianni was requested whether or not the issues are a results of execution, play-calling, or scheme.
"Clearly, all people contributed to that," Sirianni advised reporters. "All people. So, there's execution errors, there's teaching errors. All people contributes to it. It's an final workforce sport. You’ll be able to't maintain drives and do the issues that you really want. A few of our issues offensively has been [that] we've been behind, however it wasn't fairly the identical case in the present day the place we have been in second-and-long and all these various things. It was extra we couldn't convert on third down for a number of totally different causes. So once more, there's at all times quite a lot of contributors to that. I must go watch the tape earlier than I react to something. However I do know if you're 0-for-whatever we have been in the present day, all people has a hand in that. Our job is to determine what occurred and get higher from it and never assign blame. That's what we'll be doing."
Accidents had one thing to do with that. The Eagles didn't have receiver Devonta Smith or tight finish Dallas Goedert. Proper sort out Lane Johnson was a late scratch. Working again Saquon Barkley injured his hamstring on his solely carry of the sport.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts didn't blame accidents. Or play-calling. Or scheme.
“Poor execution," he mentioned relating to the offensive effort, significantly within the second half. "Poor execution. Yeah, poor execution.”
He was later requested what he means by "poor execution."
"It's simply you're discovering your move collectively as a unit," Hurts mentioned. "I believe it comes right down to discovering a move, discovering a rhythm as a unit, as a gaggle, and going on the market and executing at a better degree. We didn't do this in the present day.”
The subsequent probability to do it is available in six days, in London. Towards the 3-1 Jaguars.
Whereas the season isn't but on the brink, it's clear that the Eagles aren't the workforce they've been in latest seasons. They're presently not dominant. They're presently not elite. They've acquired the Panthers and the Cowboys after the journey to England, adopted by the Commanders and the Giants.
The Eagles must win no less than three of the subsequent 5 earlier than their Week 10 bye. In the event that they end the primary 9 video games at 4-5, 3-6, or 2-7, it might be very arduous to get again to the playoffs.
Even when they do, the 2026 Eagles don't seem like a workforce that may make a climb up the playoff tree.
