LaLiga celebrates in a press release issued this Monday afternoon the sentence handed down by the Criminal Chamber of the National Court against one of the largest illegal networks of IPTV for crimes against the market and consumers, intellectual property and money laundering, establishing compensation of more than 12 million euros for injured companies (Nagravision, LaLiga, Movistar Plus+, Mediapro or Egeda) and more than 30 million as fines for money laundering. It is about one of the largest compensations in the history of Spain for crimes against intellectual property.
Last week an agreement was reached with the Prosecutor’s Office, but the sentence was not made official until this Monday. The initial complaint was Nagravision and the case was promoted after the subsequent complaint from LaLiga. Later, companies such as Movistar Plus+, Mediapor and Egeda joined the judicial procedure.
The network was run by the famous ‘Dash, the Iranian’ and operated through channels such as rapidtv.com, rapidtv.net or iptvstack.com. It illegally distributed football broadcasts, movies and series to more than two million people from servers in 13 countries on three different continents.
According to LaLiga, to launder that money “the organization resorted to payment gateways, cryptocurrency exchanges, front companies and false invoices. Among the operations identified are the construction of a residential building in Iran, the purchase of a property in Barcelona valued at 1.7 million and the acquisition of two high-end vehicles for 400,000 euros. The agreement includes the confiscation of all assets and funds seized and the definitive closure of the domains.”
