The Las Vegas Raiders went into Gillette Stadium for his or her Week 5 sport towards the New England Patriots and bought the crap kicked out of them 45-17. Up till now, Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak has regarded like a prodigy and a whiz child. Nevertheless, Sunday in New England was an abject failure in all three phases and for the primary time all season, they regarded fully unprepared. Since blame begins on the prime and rolls downhill, that’s precisely the place we’re going to begin.
Coach Kubiak’s unhealthy day on the workplace
“Very disappointing efficiency from gamers and coaches” – Klint Kubiak
From the beginning, the Raiders offense regarded torpid and totally predictable. Going three-and-out on the primary possession, getting out-hustled and straight-up manhandled. A ten am begin time appeared to have an unexpected impact on Kubiak, who pissed down his leg with unhealthy teaching selections.
The Raiders’ offense is dysfunctional exterior of Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer, being uncovered week after week. Earlier than our very eyes. By some means, Kubiak couldn’t discover a option to scheme huge receivers open towards fourth- and fifth-string defensive backs. To make issues worse, the Raiders have each intention of standing pat with the group of receivers they’ve now who aren’t making an influence.
“We didn’t get it accomplished as a employees as an offense at this time.” – Klint Kubiak
When the Patriots began blitzing on practically each play, the offense made no changes whereas the sport was nonetheless manageable. No blitz beaters and it appeared as if he was content material for his offense to roll over and die. Calling run play after run play regardless of the apparent mismatch of getting all 5-8 of Marcus Jones masking 6-4 Bowers one-on-one practically all sport lengthy.
“I deserted the working sport too early and didn’t give it an opportunity to get going.” – Klint Kubiak
Persevering with to trot out an injured Ashton Jeanty and making him the workhorse was silly. Mike Washington Jr. is averaging 5.0 yards per carry to Jeanty’s 3.4 yards per carry this season. Washington didn’t enter the sport till there have been three minutes left within the third quarter and the staff was down 28 factors. Even then, it was for a measly swing move that went for 5 yards and he was promptly faraway from the sport.
Return man Dylan Laube bought 4 occasions (4) extra carries than Washington. Laube, a neighborhood child from New Hampshire, was awarded the chance to get a 2-yd landing run after a timeout during which Washington was taken off the sphere. Was it as a result of he was a greater move blocker? Or was it as a result of he was at dwelling in entrance of household and pals?
Mendoza first motion
The spotlight of the sport for Kubiak got here when he lastly determined to let his #1 general draft decide get into the ultimate drive of a blowout loss and get his ft moist just a little bit. With 6:06 left within the fourth quarter, Fernando Mendoza entered the sport and performed a no-huddle offense straight down the sphere. Doing so with poise and command all the best way all the way down to the purple zone.
A phenomenal sideline move to Malik Benson was dominated incomplete as Benson’s toe-drag swag was not on fleek. He was unable to get his second foot down in bounds. In the end, Mendoza got here up a yard brief on 4th and 4 on a quarterback scramble. Ending the drive and the sport for the Raiders’ offense. When requested about getting Mendoza in for a collection, Kubiak had this to say.
“I simply needed to get him some publicity…each rep is efficacious for him.”
