Alavés starts with a victory against Eibar in the penalty shootout

He Deportivo Alavés won the XXIV Villa de Laguardia Trophy after prevailing Eibar in the batch of penalties. The babazorros did their best from eleven meters, while the gunsmiths missed two of their four attempts, which gave the Vitorian team the first joy of the summer.

Although what is really important at this point is thatthe players are picking up the pace and there are no surprises in the form of injuries. Jokin Aranbarri premiered as a gunsmith technician and opted for a 4-2-3-1 in which the most striking thing was the aggressiveness of the team to go and pressure the opposite field with man marking. Quique, for his part, repeated the formation of three centre-backs although the idea for this season is to play with 4-4-2.

Alavés started the match better with Abde’s attacks on the left wing, although Eibar got better as the minutes passed and Bautista opened the can with a shot in which Owono was not successful at all. The scoreboard would not move further until passing through the locker room.

The two technicians They completely changed their elevens at the start of the second half, where Alavés was superior from start to finish. Mariano He was the one who came close to scoring the most times. He broke the deadlock after good collective action and was close to scoring two more goals. First with a one-on-one in which the ball licked the post and then with a shot that crashed into the crossbar. Eibar resisted the attacks of the ‘Glorioso’ and could even have taken the victory in the final stretch if Lumbreras had resolved a one-on-one in which Sivera read his intentions.

Finally, the penalties dictated the sentence and it was him Alavés who took the lead thanks to his effectiveness from eleven meters.
