Fernando Alonso had some added problem on your AMR26 this Friday in Austria, which made him behind Jak Crawford in the morning and Stroll all afternoon… until the last attempt with the soft one in PF2. There he had one of his best laps, although the problems, new ones, seemed to persist, to achieve finishing 19th ahead of three rival cars.
After the session, the Asturian admitted on F1 TV that it had been a not very pleasant day: “Yes, complicated. Nothing really new for us, nothing to learn. We experimented a bit with the settings in FP1, we also made some changes in FP2. We are still not within the optimal parameters, I think, so more changes are needed for tomorrow,” he summarized.
“Besides, On my side of the garage, there are other issues with the car that we are still investigating. We have to solve them for tomorrow,” added Alonso, who was tight-lipped. “I can’t tell you“, settled the matter.
As for the Honda engine, despite the change in altitude and the fact that it used to be good in other years in those conditions, Fernando did not notice anything different from the rest of the season. “Handling wasn’t a big difference compared to other races, so we have no problems in that sense,” he closed on a complicated Friday again.
