Mara Flavia Araujo38-year-old Brazilian triathlete, died while competing in the Memorial Hermann Ironman from Texas.

During the swimming segment, the Brazilian athlete disappeared in Woodlands Lake.

The rescue teams could not do anything to rescue her, and divers found her body hours later.

“We are sad to confirm the death of a test participant during the swimming portion of the Ironman Texas triathlon. We send our most sincere condolences to the family and friends and offer them our support in these difficult times. We are grateful to the emergency services for their quick intervention,” the organization confirmed.
