World Highway Operating Championships: Agnes Ngetich wins half marathon in world file time

Kenyan Agnes Ngetich broke the ladies's solely world file by one second to win the half marathon on the World Highway Operating Championships in Copenhagen on Sunday.

Ngetich, 25, ran 1 hour, 5 minutes, 15 seconds on the streets of the Danish capital, profitable by 50 seconds over countrywoman Veronica Loleo.

Ngetich broke the earlier girls's solely world file of 1:05:16 set by one other Kenyan, Peres Jepchirchir, in 2020.

Ethiopian Letesenbet Gidey holds the general world file for a girls's half marathon — 1:02:52 from 2021 — with a male pacemaker and in a race with men and women working collectively.

Ngetich already owned world information within the 10km (28:46 general, plus 29:27 in a girls's solely race).

Individuals have been fifth (Emma Grace Hurley), sixth (Weini Kelati) and seventh (Jess McClain) on Sunday.

Sweden's Andreas Almgren gained the lads's half marathon world title in 58:06, 5 seconds forward of Kenyan Nicholas Kipkorir.

Conner Mantz, the American file holder within the marathon, was the highest American in twelfth as he prepares for the New York Metropolis Marathon on Nov. 1.
