three people died during the celebrations for the victory of the Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions LeagueThe Prosecutor’s Office of the French capital reported this Tuesday.
Two men lost their lives after falling into the Seine Riverwhile a third – the first to be reported – died in a motorcycle accident on the Paris ring road, after other individuals removed the prohibited direction signs.
According to details provided today, on Saturday night, in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, the police were alerted that a man, born in Rwanda in 1997had fallen into the Seine.
The witnesses indicated that the man intentionally jumped into the riverfrom where the river brigade of the fire department rescued him and he was transferred from emergency at the Hôtel-Dieu hospital in critical condition, but finally died this Tuesday.
Previously, on Sunday morning, another man was found dead in the Seine near the Louis-Philippe bridge. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, he fell into the water near the Pont-au-Change, and despite the intervention of the emergency services, he could not be revived. In both cases there is investigations open to determine the causes of the two deaths.
Additionally, a third man died in a motorcycle accident on the Paris ring road during the same night of the celebrations last Saturday.
The festivities for PSG’s victory were also marked by riots in various parts of the cityalthough the authorities have not yet reported the amount of material damage.
According to French authorities, the celebrations after the Champions League final degenerated into degradation of urban furniture, looting of establishments and attacks against law enforcement.
This gave rise to the arrest of 890 people (45% than in the same celebrations in 2025), 178 law enforcement officers injured and just over 200 participants were also injured.
