Saquon Barkley Attributes His Most Successful NFL Season to Discovering His Christian Faith

Barkley believes it’s no accident that his most outstanding season followed shortly after he discovered his faith.

Saquon Barkley had an outstanding season, achieving personal bests on the field, earning the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award, and securing the Lombardi Trophy. Although his success was the result of tremendous effort, he believes that his Christian faith played a crucial role in this memorable season.

Recently, Grant Horvat, a well-known figure in the YouTube golf community with over 1.3 million subscribers, invited Barkley to his Break 60 series. While they were riding in a golf cart between shots, Barkley inquired about Horvat’s faith, which prompted a heartfelt discussion about Barkley’s own spiritual journey.

“I’m very strong in my faith, and I sense you are too,” Horvat said to Barkley. “Absolutely, I recently embraced Christianity,” the Philadelphia Eagles star replied. “I truly believe that the best year of my career coincided with my newfound faith. It brings me clarity in life.”

During media day in preparation for February’s Super Bowl, Barkley opened up about his faith and highlighted the significant influence of his agent, pastor Ed Barry, on his spiritual journey. “I won’t claim to know the Bible inside out. It’s a process for me, and I’m pushing myself to deepen my understanding alongside my family and friends,” Barkley shared. “[I’m] fortunate to have my agent [Ed Berry], who is also a pastor, allowing me to engage in Bible studies with him.”

“But [I’m] on a path of growth, and that’s the beauty of it. I believe religion and faith are about forming a relationship with God and grasping the essence of who Jesus is, and that’s what I’ve been focusing on this year. I intend to keep striving for improvement.”

Last season, Barkley surpassed 2,000 rushing yards for the first time in his career and matched his personal best with 15 total touchdowns in a regular season Saquon Barkley.

Horvat expressed his unwavering belief that Barkley is accomplishing even greater things now, fueled by his deep faith in God. He mentioned his desire to assist individuals who are grappling with their life’s direction or questioning their purpose. For Barkley, embracing a life dedicated to God has provided him with a clear path. Barkley praised him for “doing it the right way” by leveraging his platform to share God’s love with others Saquon Barkley.

His agreement with the Eagles was significant, especially given how his role is often overlooked in the league. Nevertheless, Barkley demonstrated his true value and highlighted the importance of having a transformative running back in an offensive lineup.
