Tottenham remains in constant drama. Never in its history, at this point, had it been so low in the rankings: third from the bottom, in relegation position, and two points below the safety mark of West Ham.
And it is like this after this new defeat (1-0) in the Sunderland field in a match in which the ‘spurs’ had tremendous bad luck (penalty overturned, injuries, goal after rebound…), but that plunges them into even greater depression in the debut of their new coach, the Italian Roberto De Zerbi, hired in place of Igor Tudor to try to get the club out of this hole (there are six games left for the teams below).
Tottenham, who He has not won in the Premier since December 28, 2025, he has not won unfortunately. Aside from the poor performance of their players, this clash was an example that all is bad news when the news is very bad.
Already in the first half, in the 21st minute, The VAR overturned a penalty (that was not) called in favor of Kolo MuanYo. Thus it remained 0-0 before a break to which the ‘spurs’ arrived with three yellow cards to three of their four defenders: Cuti Romero, Pedro Porro and Van de Ven.
The second half featured Sunderland’s goal in the 60th minute from a shot by Mukiele that rebounded. with bad luck, in Van de Ven itself: 1-0 and the drama escalated in a club that came to this clash in the north of England with seven casualties.
More misfortunes: in the 63rd minute goalkeeper Kinski (who had not played since his failure at the Metropolitano) suffered a blow to the head that required a heavy bandage, right in the same play in which ‘Cuti’ Romero was crying due to a thigh injury that could keep him out of these final six games. A catastrophic play because it was a misunderstanding between both visiting players.
In the end, another game to forget (14 in a row without winning in the Premier) for a Tottenham that is bordering on the drama of relegation. The nickname of England’s ‘big sixth’ is left behind.
