Villarreal is close to adding its first new face of the summer market. According to market expert Fabrizio Romano, the yellow club is very close to having Hungarian goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi once the talks between the parties have advanced.
Gulacsi, 36 years old and capped for his country 58 times, would cover the probable departure of Arnau Tenas and would accompany Luiz Junior on Villarreal’s goalkeeper roster.
The Magyar goalkeeper has played for Leipzig for the last 11 seasons, where he has played in the Bundesliga, Champions League and Europa League. They have also competed in the German Cup, winning the title in the 2021-22 season. In the highest continental competition, they qualified for the semifinals in 2019-20.
In his previous club, Red Bull Salzburg, he won two League titles and two Cup titles in two seasons. Gulacsi also belonged to Liverpool, although he did not make his debut in the Premier League.
It should be remembered that Villarreal began the preseason with three goalkeepers. One of them, Diego Conde, has left on loan to Betis, while Arnau Tenas aims to leave as well. In fact, he was already out of the squad in the first preseason friendly against Benfica. Gulacsi could take his place in the squad.
