The s have been one of many worst groups within the NFL this yr by way of 5 video games, as they've but to win a sport and their opponents are outscoring them 132-70.
One of many largest points for Miami this season has been their passing sport. They at present rank lifeless final in passing yards, averaging 156.3 per contest. Quarterback Malik Willis has began all 5 video games, finishing 56.2% of his passes for 849 yards, two touchdowns and 4 interceptions.
Whereas lots of the blame has been thrown at Willis, former s offensive lineman Richie Incognito believes it ought to go elsewhere.
“It's powerful to actually cross judgment on Malik Willis as a result of it's up and down. I believe the remainder of the roster is de facto, actually dangerous," Incognito lately . "They're paying $180 million to guys which might be not there. Total, they're simply not an excellent soccer group. There's lots of holes within the roster. Possibly they make a change at quarterback. It doesn't matter. I believe simply trying on the roster, they don't have sufficient expertise, and so they're not taking part in nicely.
“Everybody knew it was going to be a rebuild going into the season. They grabbed Malik Willis type of as a bridge quarterback, and it's powerful. It's powerful to guage gamers once you're taking part in on a roster the place you haven’t that many nice gamers. We'll see what they're in a position to put collectively. I believe it's essential that they’ve an excellent offseason, an excellent draft, nice free company class, after which actually begin constructing this factor out."
Miami moved on from a number of offensive weapons this offseason, together with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and Darren Waller. Additionally they misplaced Professional Bowl working again De'Von Achane to a torn ACL early in Week 3 this yr.
These strikes have left Willis with Malik Washington, Caleb Douglas (who has missed the final three video games), Chris Bell and Kevin Coleman Jr. as their prime broad receivers. Ollie Gordon II, a 2025 sixth-round choose, is now their beginning working again.
That's not the very best scenario for any quarterback, particularly one who doesn't have the traits of elite quarterbacks within the league. So, whereas Willis is getting lots of flak, it's extra affordable to toss blame on his lack of assist.
