There's an actual pleasure at Liverpool proper now. They consider they've landed a very unbelievable expertise.
Liverpool have spent the final couple of summers attempting very laborious to land the largest abilities out there. They've achieved that with out a clear plan, too, signing gamers purely due to their expertise, quite than due to their match inside the squad.
It's how you find yourself, as an example, with 4 left-wingers and no right-wingers. It's how you find yourself signing two strikers for £200m who attempt to play the identical model. And it's why you find yourself with full-backs who won’t really be full-backs.
However that's to not say that the plan hasn't labored to an extent. Liverpool have undoubtedly signed some extremely proficient footballers and there's explicit pleasure round certainly one of them.
Particularly after his performances already this season.
Pleasure at Liverpool over Jeremy Jacquet
Liverpool reportedly consider they've bought one thing actually particular in t. The defender signed for the Reds again in January however they needed to wait earlier than seeing him – Jacquet didn't formally be a part of the membership till the summer season.
By then, plans had really modified. Ibrahima Konate determined to go away the membership, which means Jacquet was now not a third-choice defender however a second-choice. He's been partnering Virgil van Dijk from the get-go and doing an excellent job.
Jacquet already seems to be like the most effective defenders within the league. Whereas there's an extended option to go – and numerous issues nonetheless to check him – that is about nearly as good a begin from a 21-year-old centre-back as anybody might presumably hope for.
That's led to Liverpool, per c, beginning to marvel simply how far his potential might take him. The suggestion there’s that Jacquet may really be an even bigger prospect than anybody realised – they usually already thought he was one thing price spending £60m on.
Thrilling instances, then. Liverpool have been looking for some kind of successor to Van Dijk, who involves the top of his contract this summer season.
