Paula Badosa seems to have already forgotten the problems that forced her to retire in the Iasi final. The Catalan beat the Polish Kawa 7-5 and 6-4 in her debut at the WTA 250 in Hamburg to sign her tenth victory in the last 11 games.
Paula once again used solidity and experience to take the win. After an even first set that was on the way to a tie-break, The Spaniard managed to break the Pole’s serve at the best moment, when it remained to win the set (7-5). In the second set it was time to make a comeback to lift Kawa’s initial break, and go from 3-4 to 6-4. Three consecutive games in the second half of the set and 12 break points saved gave Paula the pass to the round of 16.
With this victory, Badosa rises to number 86 in the WTA ranking. Becoming more and more fixed in the top100. Her rival in the round of 16 will be the Hungarian Panna Udvardywhom he already beat in the Iasi quarterfinals last week.
