The electoral campaign of real Madrid enters its decisive week with a new chapter. Given the statements of the candidate Enrique Riquelme, in which he affirms that only one of the candidates handles the club’s census, as well as the doubts and distrust expressed regarding the safekeeping and custody of the vote by mail, this Electoral Board states the following:
1. The Electoral Board has not provided the electoral roll to any of the candidates competing in the elections on June 7.
2. The Electoral Board has transmitted to the two candidates, in writing, the procedure so that they can send information, documentation and material to the partners. Furthermore, the candidate Enrique Riquelme was informed of this matter the day he presented his candidacy, in person.
3. Said procedure is established in the rules that govern the electoral process (point 2 of the section on the electoral roll) published for this purpose. The rules explain that candidates must provide the Electoral Board with the information, documentation and material they want to send to members and the club takes care of the sending.
4. The Electoral Board established Monday, June 1 at 6:00 p.m. as the end of the deadline to receive the information, documentation and material that each candidate would like to send to the members.
5. The Electoral Board is very concerned about Enrique Riquelme’s statements in which the custody and security of voting by mail is put under suspicion, since, in response to a question from said candidacy on this matter, the Electoral Board responded in writing, from which we transcribe this excerpt:
“In order to reinforce transparency and confidence in the integrity of the postal vote custody procedure, candidates who request it may designate one of the validly accredited auditors to remain continuously in the vicinity of access to the room enabled for the custody of the votes.
The presence of the interveners in said area will be understood to be carried out in a space subject to the surveillance and security systems existing in the club facilities, being subject to the applicable video surveillance regime and the processing of the images that, where appropriate, is appropriate in accordance with current regulations.
6. Therefore, any information, documentation or material that has reached the members of any candidacy from the club has been processed in accordance with the current procedure and regulations.
7. The Electoral Board is rigorously and precisely following the applicable regulations at all times during the present electoral process, for which it requests respect.
