Max Verstappen is back at it. In yesterday’s free practice and in the ‘qualy sprint’, the Dutchman seemed upset with his Red Bull. In Montreal he has not quite found the necessary rhythm to be fighting for the positions that he would like. In the sprint race he finished seventh and far behind the Mercedes and McLaren.
Trapped in a loop with no way out
The four-time world champion did not hold anything back when analyzing the mechanical and aerodynamic problems that the car is experiencing, describing a situation that is beginning to border on technical desperation: ““We are in a vicious circle: we improve something and make something else worse,” Max said resignedly.
The sensations on the track in just one lap were a real roller coasterespecially on the straights, a terrain where Red Bull previously ruled: “The whole classification was confusing with the top speed, it went up and down“Max replied, showing that the telemetry data does not make any sense to the engineers at this time.
Looking to Sunday
Despite the bleak outlook, ‘Super Max’ tries to cling to logic to maintain a minimum bit of optimism for the race, although his confidence is low. The frustration of the four-time Formula 1 champion is evident. In a season marked by great changes and where he has been reluctant to it, has responded to the media with an ironic message about the situation his team is currently suffering: “If we can come back? If we improve the car a little, yes. We can’t make it worse, that’s clear. We can only improve it,” concluded the four-time champion.
Verstappen’s patience runs out and the World Cup is tightening. Red Bull has a few hours to break this ‘vicious circle’ before the traffic light turns green.
Verstappen, Red Bull soldier
Max has been trying like crazy all kinds of solutions to find a rhythm that would make him climb to the top positions but in the end he didn’t achieve it. The Dutchman became so frustrated with his team that he ended up agreeing with them out of compassioneven knowing that it wasn’t going to work. He communicated this to the media after the end of the classification, accompanied by a gesture that says a lot: “I tried something with the car, the team wanted that. So I said, sure. But that’s clearly not the right way… That was predictable. But now we know for sure…”, he concluded.
He also wanted to send a warning to his team, after asking for help in the search to cut those tenths that would have allowed him to enter the Top 5. “I asked a few times, I didn’t get an answer. I didn’t receive feedback. So.”, he commented with signs of anger.
Fed up with criticism
Max Verstappen was already ‘warm’ since early in the morning when he was asked about Juan Pablo Montoya’s statements, who admitted and defended that the driver should be expelled due to the constant criticism of the new Formula 1. The Dutchman, tired of being criticized. He responded harshly: “I don’t know what problem Montoya has with me. “I don’t have much patience with someone who says so much nonsense either,” Max concluded.
Tired of always being the center of attention of the Colombian, Verstappen took advantage of his appearance to send a message against Montoya and if you pass, return the play and ask to be thrown out: “I don’t understand why the management of Formula 1 pays people like him. Do you want someone like that in the paddock who spouts so much nonsense?”, he concluded his speech.
