He Fast Friday never disappoints and this year has left us with an interesting scenario, with the Penske making a show of force with the engines at maximum turbo pressure and Ganassi defending himself…with a consistent Álex Palou.
The Spanish made the sixth best lap of the day (232.532 mph/374.2 km/h)…but that doesn’t count for anything today, In fact, Rosenqvist’s best lap (233.372 mph/375.5 km/h) came with a big slipstreamwhich also helped him in the first of his best attempts and that completely distorts his result.

Scott McLaughlin left his mark today with a spectacular roundAmber Pietz
Today What is important is the average of the four classification simulations and there the Spanish has shone more… although not at the level of the Penske of Scott McLaughlin (poleman in Indianapolis in 2024)… which seems to be back on its feet. His attempt, with a sidereal average of 232.572 mph After four super consistent laps (232.582, 232.541, 232.491 and 232.674) he left everyone frozen.
Palou didn’t have that much speed terminal like the New Zealander, but it was quite consistent in his batcheswith one of them above 232 miles per hour average (232.026 mph)the fifth best of the day. Furthermore, his was the second best lap of the day without slipstreamonly behind McLaughlin. It also began to show Takuma Satodouble winner of the Indy 500, who was the first to touch the walls of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
It is true that This Fast Friday may not have been very significant due to the conditions of the day, quite different from those expected so much for tomorrow (rain and low temperatures) as for him Sunday, with sun and much more heat.
There has also been pilots with problems. The one who most, Kyle Kirkwoodwho has seen how his Andretti-Honda suffered power problems that have prevented him from having a Fast Friday helpful. Also Santino Ferrucci had to abort a run due to problems with the Chevrolet engine…and it may be the sixth with problems.

Unfavorable draw… now look at the sky
And just after Fast Friday arrived one of the most important moments of the weekend: the draw for the starting position tomorrow for the first guaranteed qualifying attempt. Palou will start 31st and second to lastan a priori complicated position (it is always better to leave as soon as possible, with the coldest track). But everything can change if, as expected, tomorrow’s rain plays a role determinant…
The Indianapolis 500 qualifying will start tomorrow (weather permitting) at 5:00 p.m. from Spain and can be followed live on television through Movistar Sports 2.
