Hughes hasn’t signed a contract extension with the Wild after a complete summer season of hypothesis. “I believe the Wild proceed to be affected person. I believe they really feel they nonetheless have a variety of time to determine this out, however let’s be actual: GM Invoice Guerin, had you instructed him three months in the past that Quinn Hughes wouldn’t be prolonged because the puck drops on their season, I believe he would’ve been shocked and disenchanted, fairly frankly,” Pierre LeBrun mentioned Thursday on TSN’s Insider Buying and selling.
“The explanation this isn’t but carried out is that Quinn Hughes, because it’s defined to me, is in no rush to make this determination. He might completely nonetheless lengthen in some unspecified time in the future with the Wild, however he is simply not there proper now, the place he is prepared to present his agent the inexperienced mild to maintain getting into negotiations. There have been a number of conversations between the Wild and Pat Brisson, the agent for Quinn Hughes, however nothing will get carried out for actual till the participant himself says, ‘Okay, I am in that place.’ Till that occurs, yeah, there’s nervousness within the Twin Cities; there must be.”
It is a brutal actuality for the Wild, who gave up the equal of 4 first-round picks to amass Hughes from the Vancouver Canucks final December: Zeev Buium, Marco Rossi, Liam Öhgren, and a 2026 first-round decide, which become the twenty fourth choice, Adam Novotný.
Rossi already has three objectives and one help in two video games this season. Öhgren, enjoying on the identical line as Rossi and Minnesota native Brock Boeser, additionally has two assists in two video games, whereas Buium is a part of the Canucks’ prime defensive pair with Filip Hronek.

And if Minnesota is not the reply now, what are the possibilities it instantly turns into the best place for him past this season?
