The Government of Iran has announced the complete reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for all commercial vessels, within the framework of the current ceasefire with the United States.
The Foreign Minister of Iran, Abbas Araqchi, confirmed the measure this Friday through a message on social networks, in which he stressed that the decision will be maintained throughout the truce period. “In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage of all merchant ships through the Strait of Hormuz is declared fully open“, he published.
As Abbas Araqchi detailed, The vessels must follow the coordinated route already announced together with the Port and Maritime Organization of Iran, a mechanism that seeks to guarantee transit safety at one of the key points for global energy trade.
The reopening of this strategic maritime corridor means a gesture of relaxation in a context of high regional tension, given that a significant part of the oil exported from the Persian Gulf to international markets transits through the Strait of Hormuz.
The decision comes after weeks of uncertainty about security in the area and reinforces, at least temporarily, the stability of maritime traffic on one of the most sensitive routes on the planet.
