There was a happy ending… halfway. Enoch Solves (29-11-1, 1NC) He retired from MMA at the age of 41 (just a few days before turning 42) and after a legendary career… with a No Contest. After finishing Daniel Ladero (4-3, 1NC) in the first round, after a chaotic exchange from which he emerged the winner, the referees decreed via review that there had been an illegal knee and left the fight without a winner. Ilia Topuria, present at the event, declared that he did not understand the decision because it had not been made at the time… and Enoch, of course, shared it, saying that he will ask for victory.
It was still, however, a glorious end to a legendary career. The ‘Russian sleeper’, pioneer in Spanish mixed martial arts, said goodbye at home, before more than 14,000 spectators. “An ending that I couldn’t even dream of,” he declared excitedly at a press conference after an event that set a new record as the evening with the largest audience in the history of national MMA. The Roig Arena and WOW 29 Valencia lived up to the farewell of a myth, who ‘went home’ in front of his family, friends and acquaintances.
An ending I couldn’t even dream of
Enoch Solves
But Enoc Solves, who left the gloves still as light heavyweight champion, was not the only hero of the first WOW evening in the very modern Roig Arena. The Polish Damian Rzepecki (10-0) left a recital against the Romanian Corneliu Lascar (13-8) and is one step away from the UFC. A talent that debuted in Spain in a big way.
Rzepecki took one of the bonuses… and shared it with David Hervías (3-0), who submitted Yunus Emre Batan (1-1). It was one of the three victories of the Black Panther from Madrid, who became the big winner of the night in Valencia: three fights, three wins by finish. They also won Antonio Fofirca (4-0) and Geison Santana (5-4).
To highlight one of the fights of the evening: Mor Dieye (4-0), with Asturian Joel Álvarez in his corner, UFC fighter, He beat Nico Medina from Murcia (1-1) in a fantastic duel of national prospects. The fighter of Senegalese origin from CD Tibet continues to rise and maintains his immaculate record.
