Palace shatters a ‘Crystal’ Fiorentina in defense

He Crystal Palace puts one and a half feet in the semi-finals of the Conference after being imposed by 3-0 to a Fiorentina that did not find its football. The English took advantage of the field factor to impose their rhythm, something that allowed them to take the match to their own territory. Mateta and Mitchell lead Glasner’s team in a match marked by interruptions in constant ball disputes.

In a somewhat decaffeinated atmosphere for a European quarterfinal, Palace came out better. Oliver Glasner’s men took possession of the ball and adopted their game. Owners and lords of the ball, opportunities began to arrive. It was on the right wing, with Muñoz incessant in his efforts. Their crosses gave them options, but none of their attacking teammates managed to finish off the ball. It had to be Mateta from eleven meters who beat a correct David de Gea, but little helped by his defense. The penalty was doubtful, a late entry after kicking, with barely any contact. Despite this, the maximum penalty was awarded, which was 1-0.

Fiorentina tried to respond immediately, but Gudmunsson’s shot went wide. Little more notable in Fiorentina, who gave up on the attack as a result of the good disposition of Palace, which searched and found the second. After another lateral cross, De Gea dressed as a hero against Mateta, but the redo was open to a Mitchells who came in with everything to send her to save. After an incomprehensible VAR review (it was a clear legal goal) it was valid to go to the locker room with the local score 2-0.

The second half It began with other airs. Fiorentina came out more aggressive and it showed from the start. The Italians took over the ball and they imposed their game, although without major dangers. It wasn’t until the halfway mark of the second 45′ until chained two good chances, which Henderson stopped without going too far in the effort. After that, the Palace calmed him down and became owner of the possession. Tonic that they implemented, again, their style. As a result of that game he found opportunities. Mateta, without a goalkeeper, sent a cross to the far post that left him an opportunity that few miss.

When everything indicated that it was going 2-0 open to ItalyGlasner’s men pressed with a Yeremy Pino unleashed. The Spaniard was sharp and opened the defense so that, once again, the a long cross that, without problems, Sarr headed in to make De Gea’s stretch impossible. A 3-0 that leaves the tie doomed, barring a miracle for the Italian team.
