Williams is providing fans with the opportunity to participate in the creation of a unique Formula 1 livery for the 2025 Sao Paulo Grand Prix in collaboration with Gulf Oil.
Following a call for fans to select its Gulf-inspired racing colors in 2023, the Grove-based team is now inviting supporters to create a unique livery for the upcoming Brazilian race.
In anticipation of the British Grand Prix this weekend, Williams and Gulf Oil International launched the ‘Driven by Words’ campaign during a special event at Piccadilly Circus in London. Fans interested in participating in this campaign can submit five words daily that they feel represent the essence of Williams and its partner Gulf until August 25.
Submissions are welcome in any language and are accessible to fans globally visiting the websites of the team or Gulf.
“We are excited to further contribute to Gulf’s remarkable racing legacy alongside our partner Atlassian Williams Racing. Our shared enthusiasm for racing drives us, and we honor those who bring it to life – the fans,” stated Mike Jones, CEO of Gulf Oil International.
“This unique livery marks a groundbreaking initiative, placing fans at the core of the campaign by incorporating their words into the renowned Gulf heritage design. This stunning livery is set to establish a memorable moment when it debuts on the track in Brazil later this season.”
Supportive messages from fans for the team will be showcased on the FW47, highlighting Gulf’s signature colors.
In 2023, Gulf and Williams unveiled the ‘Bolder than Bold’ initiative, which allowed over 180,000 fans to select a distinctive livery that was showcased in Singapore, Japan, and Qatar. “One of the most rewarding aspects of being a driver for Atlassian Williams Racing is connecting with our amazing fans worldwide and understanding the significance of the team to them,” Alex Albon shared. “With this collaboration with Gulf, we’re providing them a unique opportunity to have their feelings reflected on the car, and it will be a privilege to carry all that support with me during the race in Brazil.”
Williams team principal James Vowles, who recently signed a long-term contract extension, also emphasized the team’s ongoing commitment to enhancing fan interaction. “We are thrilled to launch this new campaign with Gulf, bringing together two legendary names in motorsport to honor the individuals who are the heartbeat of F1: the fans,” he stated.
“Driven by Words represents our ongoing dedication to connect fans with the team like never before, be it through fan zones, exclusive behind-the-scenes social media updates, or unique online interactions. “Atlassian Williams Racing boasts one of the most devoted and enthusiastic fanbases in sports, and I eagerly anticipate witnessing their words come alive as a spectacular livery for the Brazilian Grand Prix.”
