Quarterback Anthony Colandrea was 24-of-44 for 255 yards, one landing and three interceptions. A type of interceptions was returned for a landing. Jamal Rule has 72 dashing yards however solely 13 makes an attempt.
The protection surrendered solely 267 complete yards and 32 dashing yards however could not make the important thing performs late to hold on to the lead. Nebraska is now 17-3 all-time on Halloween. Fisch had loads to say about his group’s comeback victory.
“Unbelievable win for the Huskies, I assumed Nebraska performed extremely effectively. What a sport day setting they’ve right here. It was loud, it was onerous to maneuver the ball, their protection is sweet, and so they did a implausible job. Our protection is salty, and our protection is sweet, and our protection did a implausible job. I assumed as a group, it took all people. It took all people on our roster. It took a 50-yard subject purpose. It took an unimaginable job punting, It took the punter making a deal with. It took three interceptions by our protection. It took a number of move rushers. It took Elijah (Durr). It took Demond (Williams). It took all of the backs, all of the wideouts, all of the tight ends, and it took the offensive line battling all the best way until the tip. So all collectively, all three phases obtained this win. What a cool place to get a win, two highway video games in a row within the Huge Ten. This can be a Huge Ten win, 17-10. I challenged the group all week, I stated ‘it’s important to maintain them beneath 13 factors.’ That is the way you win on the highway within the Huge Ten. That is what the stats let you know. That is what it appears to be like like. I do know we talked about there is a race to 21. If you happen to get to 21, you win 93% of the time on this convention, in order that was an enormous deal by our protection. That is what I feel we must always begin anticipating on these highway video games in opposition to actually good groups.”
On quarterback play analysis
“No, I actually wasn’t anticipating to make any change. To start with, he (Elijah Brown) got here off six actually good quarters and a very good bye week, and Demond (Williams) was working his approach again from harm, and Elijah earned the fitting to be the starter. And I am unsure that he did not earn the fitting to proceed the fourth quarter, however I felt we would have liked a spark. I felt that the best way they had been taking part in us, what they had been doing coverage-wise, we would have liked the flexibility that Demond has, and that is the flexibility to have the ability to make a play along with his ft if it offered with all the person protection we had been getting, and be capable to make possibly slightly bit extra of that play that wasn’t drawn up per se. We obtained the spark we wished, we obtained the spark we would have liked. Demond Williams has been the beginning quarterback right here for lots of weeks, and he’s a very good participant. However I feel possibly the final sport and a half as he is recovering gave him one other alternative of perception. And boy, I am so pleased with how he performed.”
On particular groups play
“I noticed the Minnesota-Indiana sport, and each guys kicked 60-yard subject targets. I noticed our sport, we kicked a 50-yard subject purpose with Tyler (Robles). We punted the ball 10 occasions possibly, and simply flipped the sphere each single time. On this convention, you’ve got obtained to have the ability to play subject place soccer. You have obtained to have the ability to not get grasping as a play caller, which is de facto onerous. It is fourth and one on the 40. I wished to go for that unhealthy, however I advised myself ‘mistaken convention.’ That was a number of years in the past. It’s important to punt it and Hunter Inexperienced retains pinning them again, pinning them again, pinning them again. That final one, it was unlucky that they obtained it on the twenty fifth as a result of we had an opportunity there to place them again as effectively.”
Nebraska will hit the highway this Friday for a weeknight showdown at Illinois. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Fox.
