Enric Masip, member of the sports commission and advisor to the president-elect Joan Laporta, attended the padel tournament organized by Nacex at the Aurial Vila club this Thursday and spoke to the media to talk about current events in Barcelona. With Pini Zahavi in Barcelona, Masip spoke about Flick’s renewal with Barça, the future of Lewandowski, Julián Álvarez and Sunday’s classic against Real Madrid, among other topics.
Flick Renewal
“Everything is very good. From what everyone has said, Flick has stated that he is very happy here as the club is very happy with him, the normal thing is that it comes to fruition. The normal thing is that it is going to close. The season is about to end. The expectations and feelings are very good on both sides.”
Lewandowski’s future
“We have to wait until the end of the season. He came at a delicate time for the club and has given an exceptional performance. He is at an age where he has to decide his future. Together they all have to look at what can be done in his situation.”
Julian Alvarez
“Out of respect for the current squad we have to be focused on finishing the season. Once this happens, both Deco and Flick will see the people who can improve the team. Then we have to look at the economic parameters, we have always said that Barça can face situations and signings that it considers. We are hopeful that this will be the case because it has been done historically. Anyone who likes football likes Julián, he is a great forward.”
Florentino Pérez and the champion cup
“That it be handed over seems good to me because in the end the day you win is when the cup has to be there. Unless two teams in different places could win it. The normal thing is that the cup is there ready to be given. That the president of the opposing team is not there? It’s each person’s decision. Everything comes from the same place for years, it’s the only argument they have to cover up their things, I don’t know. Everyone can do what they want. Our president is always where he belongs and many times even if you have to go to a place where you think “That someone has done something else, which is not the case, is not a sufficient reason not to go.”
If Laporta did not go to the Bernabéu
“I can imagine it, because in this country depending on what things are looked at in one way or another. Obviously everything the president does is looked at with a magnifying glass. Everything is more criticized. A club like Barça has this, it is a problem of envy and resentment.”
Real Madrid’s dressing room problems
“I can talk about us. It is neither good nor ethical to talk about other people’s problems. I imagine that in a club of the prestige of Madrid the pressure is so great that it is difficult to work when you don’t win.”
Mourinho
“When a team changes coaches it means that things are not going the way they should. Mourinho is a great coach, he has been through many teams. We already know his time at Madrid, I’m not going to decipher it either. If they want to sign him, let them sign him. I know him from the time I played. I have a good relationship with him, but everyone defends their interests.”
