The last day of LaLiga will decide a position Europa League (which Celta and Getafe opt for) and another from Conference League (with Getafe, Rayo, Valencia and Espanyol as candidates), in addition to the two positions of decline who will accompany Oviedo to LaLiga Hypermotion (Levante, Osasuna, Elche, Girona and Mallorca are the teams involved).
For the rest, we already know the champion and the five teams that will play in the Champions. In addition, Athletic, Sevilla and Alavés do not have options to play in Europe and they cannot descend either.
But beyond European competitions and relegation, each position counts when it comes to earning a little more or a little less from the television cast. And it is that 25% of the distribution of television rights depends on the final classification of each team.
As stated in the Royal Decree-Law 5/2015approved unanimously in Congress, the law establishes that a 50% of the distribution of television rights is distributed equally. He another 50% is divided into two: a part in what is called social implementation (one third for the collection in subscriptions and average box office of the last five seasons, and the other two thirds for its participation in the generation of resources from the commercialization of television broadcasts), and the other part of that second 50% goes depending on the classification table. That is, 25% of the total is distributed according to the position of each team.
To calculate the money that each team will charge based on its position, we take as reference the 1,292 million which were distributed for television rights in the 24/25 season, the last with officially published data in this regard. 25% of 1,292 is 323 million. That is the figure, approximately, that will be distributed based on the final position of each team, distributed in this way:
- 17%: 54.91 million (Barcelona)
- 15%: 48.45 million (Real Madrid)
- 13%: 41.99 million (To be decided: Villarreal or Atlético)
- 11%: 35.53 million (To be decided: Villarreal or Atlético)
- 9%: 29.07 million (Betis)
- 7%: 22.61 million (To be decided: Celta or Getafe)
- 5%: 16.15 million (To be decided)
- 3.5%: 11.30 million (To be decided)
- 3%: 9.69 million (To be decided)
- 2.75%: 8.88 million (To be decided)
- 2.5%: 8,075 million (To be decided)
- 2.25%: 7.26 million (To be decided)
- 2%: 6.46 million (To be decided)
- 1.75%: 5.65 million (To be decided)
- 1.5%: 4.84 million (To be decided)
- 1.25%: 4.03 million (To be decided)
- 1%: 3.23 million (To be decided)
- 0.75%: 2.42 million (To be decided)
- 0.5%: 1.61 million (To be decided)
- 0.25%: 0.80 million (Oviedo)
That is to say, Villarreal and Atlético are playing at La Cerámica for around six and a half million euros. The tie is worth the red and white team to be third, since in the first round match, they won at the Metropolitano.
It is not charged in one go
The money earned for sporting merits is collected in five seasons and as follows: 35%, 20%, 15%, 15%, 15%. To understand it, let’s take the example of Barcelona. Next season, the Barça team will earn 35% of the almost 55 million that corresponds to them for being first this campaign. And he will also earn 20% of what he received last season (24-25) for finishing first, 15% for being second in 23-24, 15% for being first in 22-23 and 15% for being second in 21-22.
