Losses due to piracy

LaLiga estimates annual losses due to piracy between 600 and 700 million euros and points out that it reduced the piracy consumption rate in Spain by 60% last season.

One of the great fears when talking about piracy is that income from audiovisual rights will decrease, which is the main source of income for LaLiga clubs.

It Jaime Blanco explained this wayDirector of the LaLiga Club Office, at the ‘Piracy: The hidden threat to the user’ event held last October: “If income drops we will be able to sign fewer players and the quality we have on the field of play is lower. But it doesn’t stop there, because if I have worse players in the end I have less income from ticketing, because fewer people will go to the stadium, less income from sponsorships and everything feeds back. You may not see the real impact in minute 1 but it is 100% real and affects the quality of your team.“.
