The founder of the Andalusian Party and mayor of Seville, Alejandro Rojas-Marcos, won this weekend, at the age of 85, the bronze medal in the Hyrox 2026 World Championship, in which he once again stood on the podium after being runner-up in 2025.
This is, as his team reported in a statement, a global indoor running and fitness competitionthat combines resistance and strengthwith a format of eight kilometers of running interspersed with eight functional exercise stations.
Rojas-Marcos He has partnered with fellow Sevillian Julio Paneque, 59, in the tournament held in Stockholm (Sweden)the most important international event of this hybrid sport, which has had the participation of seven thousand athletes, of which the Sevillian politician has once again been the oldest.
The victory obtained by these two Sevillians corresponds to the Older Doubles modality and adds to that of the previous year at the World Cup in Chicago.
In this modality Six couples participated, two of which could not finish the competitionin a tournament in which he states that he attends only “to enjoy the affection of people who are surprised by what an old terminal can do.”
Together with Paneque and Rojas-Marcos they have also participated in this Championship, in the Double Mixed modality, Manuel Halcón42 years old, director of Training For Gold and Spanish Master Swimming champion; and Matilde Luque41 and Spanish canoeing champion.
