ANDSpanish futsal of the last two decades would not be understood without the marriage that Inter Futsal and the Movistar company have formed. A marriage that began in 2004 when the Inter players began to wear the company’s iconic M, and that ended yesterday with the elimination against Barça. A marriage that sealed their commitment in the 2007-08 season, when the most successful club in world futsal began to compete as Inter Movistar, first.
There have been two intense decades in which Movistar Inter has continued writing with someone else’s lyrics a story that began in 1977 when José María García created the futsal team.
With the help of Movistar, Inter has continued to feed the trophy room, which is now displayed in the Jorge Garbajosa Pavilionfrom Torrejón de Ardoz, which has been his home since the team returned to the town where he has lived the most and which will continue to be his home in the coming years.
All accounts start from zero and Movistar Inter’s, which started in the 2007-08 season, soon changed zero to four, the number of titles won that year: a League, the Spanish Super Cup, the European Cup Winners’ Cup and the Intercontinental Cup were the first achievements of those from Torrejón de Ardoz.
In these 20 years the account has continued to grow until reaching the figure of 28, which is distributed in this way: seven Leagues, five Spanish Cups, seven Super Cups, three Copas del Rey, for a total of 22 national titles, to which we must add six international ones: three UEFAFutsal Champions, one Cup Winners’ Cup and two Intercontinental Cups.
In those 20 years there have been many players who have worn the Movistar M on their chestProbably the best in the world. Among them, legends of national futsal such as Luis Amado, Jesús Herrero, still active, Carlos Ortiz, Pola, Rivillos, with a return date, and internationals with Ricardinho, elected six times best player in the world, Cardinal, Pito, now at FC Barcelona, Gadeia, in ElPozo Murcia.
JPFinancial takes over from now on to write a future as bright as the present.
The ‘Mago’ Ricardinho, on a Movistar Megacracks TourMOVISTAR INTER
With the help of Movistar, Inter has tried to transmit the values that it defends as a club, both in terms of commitment to society and to futsal. Thus, the Movistar Megacracks Tour was born, with nearly 300 events held throughout the national territory in which more than 310,000 young people have participated. An event that last year was recognized by UEFA as the ‘best participation and values program’.
