Giovanni Leoni, Juventus Curiosity and Liverpool’s Actual Determination Forward
Juventus circling Giovanni Leoni is smart. Younger, Italian, extremely rated, and at the moment sitting in that candy spot the place potential nonetheless outweighs proof. That’s often the place massive golf equipment begin sniffing round, particularly one attempting to repackage itself round a extra recognisable home id.

In response to the Liverpool Echo, Juventus have checked out Leoni as a part of that wider reset. Gazzetta dello Sport declare they even explored a mortgage transfer, solely to be turned away by Liverpool. If true, it tells you one thing easy. Liverpool nonetheless see worth right here, even after a primary season wrecked by damage.

Juventus Rebuild Meets Liverpool Endurance
Leoni has performed solely 81 minutes since arriving from Parma. That may be a tiny pattern dimension. But context issues. He confirmed promise within the Carabao Cup win over Southampton earlier than struggling the ACL damage that worn out the remainder of his marketing campaign. For a teen altering international locations and ranges, it was brutal timing.

Juventus are reportedly attempting to revive what the supply describes as their “nationwide” DNA. It’s a neat slogan, and it additionally displays actuality. They’ve misplaced readability as a soccer operation in recent times. Rebuilding round Italian expertise is a straightforward message to promote internally and externally. Leoni matches that profile completely.
Andoni Iraola May Have Well timed Enhance
For Liverpool, the timing is extra essential than the noise. Leoni is near returning to first-team coaching, and Andoni Iraola has already made clear the place issues stand. He stated: “I believe the subsequent one most likely needs to be Giovanni Leoni. I believe the plan can also be to start out coaching through the [international] break, with the group.”
That issues greater than any switch gossip. Liverpool want our bodies, depth and competitors. A younger centre-back with upside coming again into the image this month is helpful, particularly throughout a congested stretch of fixtures.

Why Leoni Nonetheless Carries Weight in Italy
What’s hanging is that Leoni’s status in Italy stays sturdy regardless of barely that includes at Liverpool. That comes from what he confirmed at Parma, and from the very fact golf equipment and scouts don’t erase expertise due to one dangerous damage. Juventus are additionally stated to be monitoring Lorenzo Palmisani, Michael Kayode, Guglielmo Vicario and Chey Ndour as they reshape their squad.
Leoni might but change into a critical first-team choice at Anfield. Proper now, the good transfer is clear. Liverpool hold him, get him match, and see what they really have earlier than entertaining anybody else’s rebuild undertaking.
Our View
Right here we go once more, one other continental big deciding Liverpool ought to do the developmental work after which hand over the participant as soon as he’s wholesome. Juventus can discuss DNA, id and all the remainder of it, however from a Liverpool perspective that is background noise till Leoni is definitely again enjoying common soccer.

The thought of loaning him out now can be daft. Liverpool signed him as a result of they consider there’s a correct defender there, not as a result of they needed to run a rehabilitation service for Turin. He has already misplaced a yr. The precedence is clear, get him match, get him settled, and let Iraola and the employees determine if he might help this squad.
There may be additionally a well-recognized sample to those tales. A younger participant is labelled a significant goal, an elite prospect, a key a part of some grand rebuild. High-quality. Then pay correctly or transfer on. Making an attempt to borrow him after Liverpool absorbed the damage threat appears cheeky greater than critical.
Supporters needs to be way more fascinated about whether or not Leoni can change into an actual choice throughout the season than in whether or not Juventus just like the look of him. Loads of golf equipment just like the look of Liverpool gamers. That tends to occur when recruitment is finished correctly. Till Leoni proves what he can do in purple, that is chatter. As soon as he does, Liverpool needs to be asking why they might assist anybody else.
