It was a really ugly begin to the season for quarterback Drake Maye, and the staff wanted to repair it as quickly as doable.
Maye wasn't excellent towards the Buffalo Payments within the s' must-win Week 4 sport towards their division rival, however he was significantly better, going 22 of 37 for 269 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception.
This was by far Maye's greatest sport of the season and appeared much like what he did a season in the past, when many thought-about him one of many higher younger quarterbacks in soccer.
The promising signal is that it appeared to boost Maye's confidence a bit.
Over the previous couple of weeks, the younger man didn't appear to have the standard confidence we're used to seeing. That was an issue in itself, although his latest feedback counsel that issues are altering and can solely enhance.
“I believe we’re simply sort of beginning up the mountain,” Maye stated Wednesday, r the Boston Herald. “I believe you’d wish to assume that and we’ve bought to go show that. But it surely’s a race for us to enhance and understanding that you just’ve bought to enhance all through the season and all year long for these groups. And these groups, when you get nearer to the tip which might be are going to sort of be at their greatest on the finish, and I believe that’s one of many issues that you just try to do all year long.
“And understanding that — you wish to say all people, particularly on offense — you wish to say that clearly the primary three weeks wasn’t what we needed to place on the market, and also you’ve bought to attempt to construct off final week, and understanding that it’s not simply going to do it for you. You’ve bought to place the work in and the main focus, and hopefully proceed to catch a development and catch a stride.”
Maye isn't somebody who beats across the bush, as he by no means got here out over the previous couple of weeks and stated he was taking part in the kind of soccer he wanted to.
He understood that he was taking part in at a really below-average degree, and that's nice to see from a franchise quarterback. I'm very curious to see if he can keep this momentum, although I’m very optimistic he can.
