The Italian director Paolo SorrentinoOscar winner for ‘The Great Beauty’, has begun to film a documentary about Carlo Ancelottiaccording to the media Screen Daily. The project, still untitled, reviews five decades of the Reggiolo coach’s career and will culminate in following the Brazilian team during the World Cup of the United States, Mexico and Canada.
The film will combine archival images with material recently shot in Italy, Spain and Brazilin addition to the recordings planned during the tournament. In addition, Sorrentino has been filming in Brazil for weeks. Ancelotti, who He left Real Madrid last summer to take charge of the ‘canarinha’began his career as a midfielder at Parma before moving to Roma and Milan. As a coach he has managed eleven clubs – including Chelsea, PSG, Bayern and Madrid itself – and has accumulated 26 titles, five of them in the Champions League.

The production is supported by Francesco Melzi d’Eril, A regular collaborator with Luca Guadagnino on ‘Call Me by Your Name’, ‘Suspiria’ and ‘Bones and All’, alongside Tart Productions, MeMo Films, Fremantle and The Apartment. FilmNation is handling international rights sales. The project has already started talks in the Cannes Festival market.
