In a World Cup with hardly any controversy, Mexican referee Ramos Palazuelos took the spotlight for the first controversial decision of the tournament with Vinicius’ goal disallowed in Brazil-Scotland.
In the 22nd minute, Vinicius put pressure on Hendrystole the ball and defined before Gunn’s departure to score what, at that moment, was the second goal of his private account. However, the referee went to the VARreviewed the action, understood that the Madrid striker had committed a foul and made the decision to annul the goal.
He gets in the way just enough to take the ball away.

“He puts his foot in just right, he puts his leg in the foot that he is going to contest for the ball. He gets in the way just enough to take the ball away from him,” said Pérez Burrull, RadioMARCA’s MARCADOR referee about the action.
