The Michigan Wolverines have struggled mightily on the offensive aspect of the ball this season. Now, after a second consecutive loss, CBS analyst and longtime coach Rick Neuheisel thinks it’s time to place Underwood on the bench.
Following Saturday’s loss to the Minnesota Gophers, the place Underwood threw two interceptions and led the Wolverines to only 7 factors on offense, Neuheisel argued that it’s time to make a change.
‘It’s not working’
In the course of the CBS Sports activities postgame present on Saturday afternoon, Neuheisel claimed that Underwood needs to be benched, claiming that it’s simply merely “not working.”
“I feel it’s time to take a seat him down. I feel if I used to be concerned in that call, I feel I might say it’s greatest for Bryce. He wants to observe it from the sideline and see if he can develop and study extra about what’s taking place on the opposite aspect of the ball. And for the soccer crew and the fanbase, I feel they should see a change,” Neuheisel stated.
“And for Jason Beck, the brand new offensive coordinator who got here together with Kyle Whittingham, I feel it offers him an opportunity to begin constructing one thing else. As a result of proper now, it’s not working. Sq. peg, spherical gap kind of factor.”
‘There’s issues’
Neuheisel did level out that there are “issues” with a possible determination to bench Underwood given the scale of his NIL contract popping out of highschool. On3 has reported that Underwood’s deal is price as a lot as $12.5 million over the course of 4 years.
Nevertheless, Neuheisel additionally factors out that Whittingham was not the coach who negotiated that deal.
“There’s issues due to the sum of money that they put into this teen from the NIL stuff. So there’s a priority, ‘What is going to the alums assume if we’re not utilizing him correctly?'” Neuheisel stated. “However that wasn’t Kyle Whittingham’s employees that requested for that. So I simply assume it might be good. And perhaps Bryce Underwood comes off the bench, turns into a hero once more, like he’s been previously, and this might have a contented ending.”
We’ll should see what occurs, however Whittingham actually e after the sport.
