The year was 2009. A young dreamer from Vallecas sat in the stands of the Palacio Vistalegre in Madrid, with his eyes fixed on the ring. That boy wasn’t just watching wrestling; he was witnessing the moment that would define his existence: an iconic confrontation between CM Punk and The Undertaker. That day, in the heart of the capital, a star was born.
Destiny is not a coincidence, it is the sum of years of sacrifice. Returning to Vistalegre is not just an event, it is closing the circle of an entire life dedicated to this sport. That young man, who began his career in the Spanish independent circuit, defied all odds.
In October 2019, Carlos Ruíz signed for the British WWE brand, the now defunct NXT UK, to make the leap to the United States three years later and debut in NXT 2.0 with a tremendous victory against one of his idols, the Japanese Kushida. The Vallecano gained a place among the company’s elite, changing its name from A-Kid to Axiom and winning the world championship in pairs, along with Nathan Frazier; leaving us, not only a reign to frame, but also a historic fight against the Hardy Boys at Madison Square Garden.
After this milestone, he became the first Spaniard to fight in WWE’s main cast, signing with SmackDown at the end of 2023. In March 2025 he fulfilled one of his dreams, debuting as a WWE wrestler in Spain, during the show held in Badalona. This year, Carlos returns to Spain.
He will do it on May 29 in Badalona and especially on June 4, at the Palacio Vistalegre in Madrid, the same place and the same stands, where one day 17 years ago his dream of becoming a wrestler began.
