Rodrigo Hernández, Manchester City midfielder, avoided talking about his future, a possible renewal with Manchester City or a departure this summer, and assured that right now his priority is the club and the World Cup.
The Spaniard, winner of the Ballon d’Or in 2024, still has one year left on his contract with City, but it is not ruled out that he signs a renewal in the coming weeks. “I’m calm,” Rodri said in the mixed zone at Wembley after winning the FA Cup.
“As I said a while ago, I only think about my club, about finishing the season with the biggest titles possible. We have the option of winning a Premier League and then the World Cup. Right now I don’t think much about my future. I’m going to be honest with you because there is another priority,” said the midfielder.
Rodri hopes to be in the World Cup 100%
The midfielder hopes to be 100% fit for the next World Cup, after returning to the field this Saturday in the victory his team achieved in the FA Cup.
The Spanish midfielder had missed City’s last five games due to a groin problem, but returned in the 1-0 win against Chelsea that marked the second title of the season for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Choosing the moment to return was not easy because I tried and found myself having doubts.

“I’m very happy to come back, it’s been a little roller coaster, because I didn’t have a very big injury, but choosing the moment to come back wasn’t easy because I tried and I had doubts. Today I also had doubts before starting the game, but it ended very well and there are sixty minutes that are very good for my body,” said the Spaniard in the mixed zone, who was very confident of being at his best in the World Cup that begins next month.
“Yes, yes, it was also just a small thing, although you always have the fear that something bigger will happen to you. Today I was able to pass the test so to speak, I felt relatively well. Obviously that 20% was missing, but it is a matter of weeks.”
