Welcome to The Linc, the day by day Philadelphia Eagles hyperlinks roundup at Bleeding Inexperienced Nation!
We won’t reward Jalen Hurts for his influence on the run sport when it has been good previously (which he completely deserves credit score for!) after which additionally say it does not matter if he isn’t operating now. It completely does matter. One would think about his calf harm is not serving to issues in the mean time. However, courting again to final yr, there’s been loads of reporting about how Hurts does not need to run as a lot as he did previously and the Eagles appear to be on board with that strategy. There is definitely a stability available as a result of it isn’t good if Hurts recklessly runs round an excessive amount of. However we have reached some extent the place it isn’t sufficient, particularly at a time the place the offense is in determined search of solutions to get going.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles information and hyperlinks …
Why does not Jalen Hurts run anymore? – NBCSP
After twice averaging over 50 dashing yards per sport early in his profession, he is at a career-low 21.4 yards per sport this yr, which ranks ninth amongst quarterbacks. After operating for 49 yards within the opener vs. Washington, he is averaged simply 15 yards per sport since Week 2. His 61 dashing yards the final 4 weeks is 2rd-fewest in a 4 sport stretch since he turned a full-time starter in 2021. It is his fewest – by 75 yards – by way of 5 video games of a season. His two dashing yards Sunday have been 2nd-fewest of his 89 profession begins. He had minus-10 dashing yards within the win over the Vikings final yr at U.S. Financial institution Stadium. He had two five-yard losses, certainly one of them a kneeldown, within the closing 47 seconds of that sport. Hurts continues to be efficient when he does run. His 4.7 common is his highest since 2021, and his two runs of 20 yards or extra match his whole from all of final yr. He simply does it lower than ever. Why? I requested him that on Wednesday.
Jalen Hurts will not say a lot about “very distinctive” calf harm that was disclosed final Friday – PFT
When the query got here up throughout his midweek press convention, here is what Hurts mentioned: “It was a really distinctive expertise, to say the least. I do not need to get into the main points of form of main as much as the sport and whatnot, however received nicked up within the Rams sport.” There’s rather a lot there, in not that many phrases. What can be “very distinctive” a few calf harm that did not influence his observe reps? And why wouldn’t it be an enormous secret? The complicating issue is that the Eagles flew to London on Friday. Did he require medical care in London? Would it not be one thing that the workforce docs have been capable of present? Did he have to go to a neighborhood hospital for it?
Nick Sirianni’s Eagles profession is at a crossroads – BGN
And make no mistake, Sirianni will try on Sunday to do one thing no NFL workforce has ever efficiently executed — win a sport wherein a workforce is coming off a global sport and has to play a workforce coming off a bye week. It is solely occurred 4 occasions earlier than, and groups within the Birds’ place are 0-4. This was the Eagles’ alternative, by the way in which. They may have scheduled their bye week getting back from London, however selected to push it later within the season. However, it could be a exceptional factor if Sirianni has this workforce up and operating at full capability on Sunday afternoon in opposition to a workforce coming off a two-week break. It is honest to marvel if Sirianni misplaced the locker room final Sunday, even when his resolution to permit a return was defensible. He has taken full duty for final week’s debacle, a noble act. And whereas that’s actually appreciated by his gamers, and whereas his gamers all need to do properly for him, how will they reply to that? Do they see their boss taking possession of a questionable resolution and proceed to rally behind him? Or do they see him as an excellent man that lacks solutions on methods to repair a lackluster offense and has had an uneven monitor file of creating in-game selections?
Panthers vs Eagles: Matchups to observe – Cat Scratch Reader
Robert Hunt vs Jalen Carter. The Eagles protection has been maintaining them in video games whereas their offense stumbles round. Jalen Carter is an enormous a part of that. He leads the workforce with three sacks in 5 video games, which is a really excessive quantity for an inside lineman. He is coming off a dominant efficiency in opposition to the Jaguars wherein he was credited with two of these sacks and 1.5 run stuffs. All the Panthers inside linemen will probably be answerable for maintaining Carter in examine, however it’s possible going to be Robert Hunt that handles the majority of that task. Hunt has been somewhat shaky this season. He’ll have to regain his kind from previous seasons to restrict Carter.
Analyzing commerce values of potential Eagles promote candidates – PhillyVoice
RB Saquon Barkley (29). Why ought to the Eagles commerce him? Buying and selling Barkley can be a troublesome tablet to swallow due to his contributions to the 2024 Tremendous Bowl workforce, however he turns 30 in February and he has an costly contract. (Caveat: The workforce form of must be inarguably “done-done” to commerce Barkley.) Why ought to different groups commerce for him? Barkley nonetheless has juice, and there are a bunch of groups that he might assist make harmful. Commerce worth: Second-round decide. Logical commerce companions: Broncos, Texans, Seahawks, Vikings, Packers.
Sport Evaluate – JAX 19, PHI 17 – Iggles Blitz
Willie Lampkin made his first profession begin and received many of the consideration. He struggled early on earlier than settling in. He gave up essentially the most pressures of any of the linemen. I feel his largest situation was getting his arms on defenders too slowly at occasions. He’ll should be extra aggressive shifting ahead. He did have some good blocks and confirmed some promise. His lack of measurement was a difficulty at occasions. I hope we get to see a number of extra begins so we will get a greater really feel for what his ceiling is.
15 NFL gamers, coaches on the new seat coming into Week 6: Quinn, McDaniel, others – ESPN
And as I wrote about final yr, Sirianni’s lack of clear possession over anybody specific piece of the operation makes him extra more likely to obtain blame for what goes fallacious than credit score for what goes proper. Sirianni’s résumé by way of five-plus years as Eagles head coach is nearly as good as anyone’s in NFL historical past, however for numerous causes, there is a clear notion that Sirianni is not the one driving a lot of that success. And whereas Sirianni has racked up a gaudy win-loss file throughout his time in Philadelphia, the Eagles are 5-7 over their previous 12 video games, together with a three-game dropping streak. Three of their subsequent 4 video games are at dwelling in opposition to the Panthers, Cowboys and Giants, all video games we might anticipate Sirianni’s workforce to win. If the Eagles win video games, even in ugly vogue, followers will tolerate the struggles. But when the dropping streak continues, properly, the sudden finish to Doug Pederson’s tenure with the workforce in 2020 ought to inform you simply how rapidly an in any other case profitable run can come to a sudden shut in Philadelphia.
NFL QB rankings, Week 6: Josh Allen reclaims No. 1 spot; Jordan Love makes largest bounce – NFL.com
26) Jalen Hurts gave his finest effort, hit an enormous landing cross to Darius Cooper and moved the Eagles right into a profitable place earlier than all of it fell aside. It is powerful to pin an excessive amount of of the Eagles’ struggles on Hurts proper now. He is enjoying behind a makeshift offensive line, does not have his high operating again or receiver, and is being requested to make the most effective of it.
Struggling Eagles first-round decide reacts to decreased function: ‘Ain’t a bizarre scenario in any respect’ – NJ.com
“Nah, it ain’t a bizarre scenario in any respect,” Campbell mentioned on Wednesday about having to separate time with Trotter Jr. “It is an excellent bond. Like no matter individuals suppose or regardless of the case could also be, it isn’t that on the finish of the day. … Soccer is about competitors. So I feel in our room, all of us perceive our targets and what we need to accomplish. That is simply to go on the market and dominate.”
Why the Eagles pivoted from Jaelan Phillips to Jonathan Greenard — and why they’re nonetheless ready – The Athletic
Additionally they preserved optionality at edge rusher. It remained a precedence for them. Trey Hendrickson was a risk earlier than he signed with the Baltimore Ravens. Curiosity in Greenard remained all through the spring. The Eagles now view it as including Greenard and Woolen for Phillips, even when different items are concerned. One can’t examine the Phillips vs. Greenard selections with out contemplating two components: The financial savings reallocated after lacking out on Phillips, and the draft picks spent to amass Greenard. The Eagles traded the No. 98 choice in April’s draft and a third-rounder subsequent season. The Eagles will possible obtain a third-round compensatory decide for dropping Phillips, which will probably be decrease (however in the identical spherical) than the decide dealt to Minnesota. The No. 98 decide this yr went to security Jakobe Thomas, who has been inactive for all 5 video games with the Vikings. The subsequent two picks have been cornerback Julian Neal and security Jalen Huskey. It is arduous to say how the Eagles would have spent the decide. It would not have been somebody of Woolen’s present-day capacity, though it could have been a cost-controlled participant who might develop into the workforce’s younger core. The largest argument for or in opposition to buying Greenard can’t be residual advantages or drawbacks. The bottom line is how Greenard performs. The Eagles added him to be the highest edge rusher — somebody with a monitor file of double-digit sack seasons whereas staying bodily in opposition to the run. If he is atop the depth chart, he places Hunt and Smith into pure roles behind him and provides the Eagles a formidable trio.
Gargano: A weekend in London reveals the reality — Eagles are the world’s workforce – PHLY Eagles
The Cowboys have been America’s Staff, a creation of one other century, when tv turned the nice nationwide campfire and the NFL was exploding into the nation’s strongest cultural establishment. They have been glamorous and profitable, their star shining from coast to coast, an empire constructed on profitable and marketed with the precision of Hollywood. However that was the twentieth century. The Eagles belong to one thing completely different. A smaller world. A related world. A world with out borders, the place a child in Mumbai or a cabdriver in London can fall in love with a soccer workforce from a metropolis he is by no means visited. The place an Englishman names his sons Iverson and Joel, the place the previous neighborhood allegiances of South Philadelphia can in some way stretch throughout oceans and cultures. The Cowboys have been America’s Staff. The Eagles have turn out to be the World’s Staff. And but, beneath the extraordinary spectacle of London, there was a troubling irony. On the very second the Eagles’ attain had by no means been larger, the workforce itself is approaching an unsure future. At 2-3, a franchise that has turn out to be the mannequin of sustained success is all of the sudden wobbling, its quarterback and head coach going through tough questions, its basis exhibiting cracks that even essentially the most magnificent touring congregation could not disguise.

The New England Patriots set sights on the New York Jets with reinforcements from injured reserve. Head coach Mike Vrabel introduced throughout his Wednesday press convention that the group has opened the observe home windows for extensive receiver A.J. Brown and offensive sort out Marcus Bryant. Each now have a 21-day runway to be activated again to the 53-man roster. Brown, 29, sustained a excessive ankle sprain within the season opener versus the Seattle Seahawks and spent the previous 4 video games on injured reserve earlier than turning into eligible to return this week. The June commerce acquisition from the Philadelphia Eagles caught three passes for 26 yards throughout his temporary 2026 debut. He headed to the locker room within the third quarter of what turned a 13-10 loss at Lumen Area. Now, with fellow veteran receiver Mack Hollins touchdown on IR on account of a calf harm, the remainder of the lively depth chart contains Romeo Doubs, DeMario Douglas, Efton Chism III and Kyle Williams.

NY Giants-Saints harm report: Abdul Carter off form with calf situation – Huge Blue View
New York Giants edge defender Abdul Carter, the workforce’s finest cross rusher, didn’t observe on Wednesday on account of a calf harm. His standing for Sunday’s sport in opposition to the New Orleans Saints stays to be seen. Head coach John Harbaugh would solely say that Carter is “doing very properly.” The Giants are already with out star edge defender Brian Burns, out for the season with a torn ACL. Beginning proper sort out Jermaine Eluemunor (calf), cornerback Colton Hood (concussion), security Tyler Nubin (neck), and left sort out Andrew Thomas (groin) additionally didn’t observe.
Cowboys accidents: DeMarvion Overshown, Cobie Durant DNP – Running a blog The Boys
At 2-3, the Dallas Cowboys have been extraordinarily disappointing, given all of the expertise they’ve all through the roster. That mentioned, they’re nonetheless just one sport behind within the win column for the NFC East lead. The workforce hopes to get some wholesome our bodies again quickly and in addition acquire extra readability on the gamers who left final Thursday’s sport with accidents. Forward of one other primetime showdown, Dallas launched its first official harm report of the week. Here is the newest we all know concerning Cowboys accidents.
Dallas Cowboys will probably be positive, in response to Area Yates – SB Nation
In terms of the Dallas Cowboys there’s both ecstacy or chaos. If the workforce is rolling then life is great. Sunshine covers us all. If the workforce is down within the dumps… you higher keep method, method, method out of the image. On condition that the Cowboys have solely been above .500 as soon as in Brian Schottenheimer’s reign, that is at the moment his second season, there was plenty of moments for total chaos to unfold. The workforce retains teasing individuals with the concept they possibly, would possibly sometime be good… after which they do one thing like get destroyed by a winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers workforce in entrance of the entire world. Analysis a workforce with that degree of polarity may be tough. Fortunately I not too long ago had an opportunity to take a seat down with somebody who’s objectively-grounded in ESPN’s Area Yates, this dialog occurred earlier than that sport to be clear, and amongst all the pieces we talked about he shared that he believes the Cowboys will finally be positive.
Who might substitute Dan Quinn as Washington Commanders head coach? – Hogs Haven
