Coello and Tapia suffer again, but continue to advance in the P2 of Brussels

Something happens with Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia. For the umpteenth time this season, they had to sweat until the end to win. They have done it again, yes, but with completely different sensations from those of their greatest rivals, who go to recital by game. However, both pairs made it to the semifinals of the P2 in Brussels, leaving the team just one step away from a new confrontation between the ‘Golden Boys’ and ‘Chingalán’.

The ‘Mozart’ and the ‘King’ faced off against one of the toughest couples on the circuit: Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz. The Spaniards already beat them in the 2024 Tour Finals and, on repeated occasions, they have known how to complicate the ranking leaders. In a period of doubt, they once again put Arturo and Agustín on the ropes. Based on solidity, the man from Madrid and the Navarrese managed to deactivate some Coello and Tapia who were more subdued than usual.

The first set was decided in the tie-break, where a couple of errors by the number six pair allowed the set to fall to the side of the favorites. HoweverCoki and Jon did not collapse. The match remained equal until Nieto and Sanz took advantage of their rivals’ doubts to score 7-5 that sent the duel to third. There, fatigue appeared among the Spanish, which made it easier for them toe Coello and Tapia will seal the victory with a final 6-3, despite still being far from their best version.

In the semifinals they will have an even more demanding exam. Before that possible appointment with Galán and ChingottoArturo and Agustín must overcome Yanguas and Stupaczuk, who gave a recital in the quarterfinals. With an absolutely spectacular Mike, they surpassed Campagnolo and Bautista with a clear 6-1 and 6-2. After having fallen in the final of the P2 in Newgiza, Carlos Pozzoni’s men have a new opportunity to relaunch their project.

Chingotto and Galán are still in another league

What becomes clear again in this round is that the fittest couple on the circuit is the one formed by Ale Galán and Fede Chingotto. The man from Madrid and the man from Olavarría have not lost since Cancún and show their superiority in each round. In the quarterfinals they faced Paquito Navarro and Fran Guerrero who arrived with good feelingsbut they could do nothing against the best version of Jorge Martínez’s men.

The track conditions are ideal for Chingotto who manages the times as he pleases, while the surface is not so slow that Galán cannot impose his punch.. The result against the ‘Pacos’ was a devastating 6-1 and 6-0, confirming that they are still in a state of grace.

Your last obstacle before the final will be Leo Augsburger and Juan Lebron, who achieved victory against Edu Alonso and Aimar Goñi. Posadeño and Puerto de Santa María are being irregular, alternating unexpected defeats like the one in Egypt with brilliant performances like this week’s. After last week’s setback, they will seek to surprise what is currently the couple of the moment.
